If we are expected to lose £2-3 million this season, do you think we may cash in on Evans and Sammy?
I cant see them re-signing so they will probably leave on a free in the summer.
I think they will both be in demand in January. If we got £100k for both with sell ons, it will create a gap for some of the younger players and reduce the wage bill.
I don't think we are anyway near relegation but also we would need to go on a major run to get into the play offs and that is looking doubtful.

I think people are overhyping them , they’re players in a bottom half div 2 side that haven’t had sparkling careers previously. 100k Sammy ,150k Evans at most .

Not so much a case of cashing in
Both players agents will already be searching for better offers
Question is, can JB identify good value for money? His signings were predominantly older pros, with no sell on value. For me, only Whelan has proved a good astute signing
Losing those 2 would definitely make us a very bog standard league 2 team, and would be hard to replace.
I’ve got a feeling clubs may well be sniffing around Alfie and Belshaw too. Lose any 2 or 3 of those and I’d fear more a relegation battle than a promotion push

He certainly did in Evans, which is why we need to try and keep him. But you wouldn’t blame him for wanting out. UTG

UTG Yeah its a shame we didn't have Evans on a longer deal, but his past form wasn't very good and I saw a Crewe fan say on a forum that he was their worst signing ever. Money talks though..

As we signed him this year, we wouldn’t get much.

Another pointless thread let’s wait and see in January regarding Kilgour he won’t be fit until February at the earliest

Cash in for a pittance or keep two of our better players until the summer? Hmmm tough one.

Remember that a number of signings were made with an all or nothing approach to the season. I.e. if we got promoted, then we would either keep them or sign better players.
I say we hold our nerve and play the season out. Who knows where we will be in May (definitely NOT National League).
I am still optimistic that we can mount a late challenge.

Can’t they sign pre-contacts in Jan? so if I had a better deal I’d just do that, take the decision out our hands

With both out of contract in the summer we would be lucky to get that much. I think there's a chance we maybe able to hold onto Evans. His first season back in England so we maybe able to tie him down for another year. I really cannot see Nicholson wanting to stay though.

Nicholson came here over HEarts expecting to be challenging in L1, no one could blame him for wanting out. I hope we keep him to the end of the season £100k in Jan is pretty meaningless. Maybe we spark a play off run. Evans I agree we should be trying to tie down to a longer deal, he may be interested as he is probably getting more out of football right now than he has for a while.

If both move on in January then Barton will need a good January window to avoid a bottom half finish to the season. If 16th is best he can do with this pair, I can't see much hope of a strong second half to the season without them. I assume Eddie has offered new contracts but they are not biting?
