hats off to tom and ollie, sometimes there passing is poor and there positional play is worse but there fierce competitiveness and guts always impresses me.
3 fantastic strikes from ollie this season and total commitment from both lads has greatly impressed me,,,both very young but to my way of thinking proper old style rovers players.

That's exactly what I thought watching Clarke's strike in slow motion from behind. Perfect body movement and he watched it all the way as it curved inside the post. Reminded me a bit of Wayne Jones's brace at Bolton in the cup. Players like that do a lot of work off the ball, nobody notices until they go off. They can only get better.

It's funny. Clarke's not a great footballer but his shooting has been great this season. Whereas Taylor is a quality footballer but his shooting is shocking. Maybe play Clarke up front and Taylor in the middle?

So true, although to be fair the combination of power and precision seems to allude many strikers at this level. Look at Gateshead who banged a good few over the bar last night and I thought they looked a very good side. Either that or blast it straight at the keeper. Makes our 3 last night all the sweeter as all 3 were belters. More please, although I'd take scruffy goals if that's all that's on offer

I admire there commitment for sure but being honest Tom was getting destroyed first half and both goals were poor from his point of view. He is much better in the middle in my opinion.

Work in progress is our Tom and give him another 12 months he will be top notch

In terms of his all-round play, Ollie Clarke offers very little and is prone to making too many mistakes (a la Gateshead's second), but there's no denying he has scored some crucial goals so far this season and they have tended to be absolute beauties. His goal yesterday was a terrific strike.
I think those few minutes around the hour mark summed him up. Scored a good goal but then dallies on the ball too long, trips over and gifts Gateshead a counter attack inside our own half which they go and score from.
I would never have him ahead of Mansell or Sinclair in the team but he did a decent job yesterday as DC changed the shape and fair play to him for that. It was a great second half performance and sums up what this group of players is all about.
Well done Gas.

It's an odd time to single TL out for praise when he was possibly at fault, with his defensive positioning, for both goals last night? You still have to wonder whether his best position will be CB eventually.
On the other hand OC turned the game last night with his performance & goal, which was a good response after some posters were calling for him to be sent out on loan last week after his performance against Bath.

For those that took delight in deriding Lee Mansell last week (in his absence) on the whole his performance last night was inspirational. Closing down space, talking to those around him & the fact he could have had a hat trick.

Tom Lockyer is streets ahead of Ollie Clarke In which particular area of the respective games, is he streets ahead? The way I see it, none of them can pass the ball, Lockyer is a better tackler than Clarke and Clarke hits a better shot than Lockyer.

It's easier to list those areas where Clarke is superior to Lockyer. As you have said, shooting.

An influential, experienced presence. And he bends it like Beckham.
