Despite our indifferent (poor) form in the first half the season, I believe we are handily placed!
5,6 or 7 points will be useful after these 3 games and I know points in the bag are what count, but we currently lie 9 points off the play offs, with 2 or 3 games in hand on most of the teams above us!
We have all moaned about our defensive woes this season, however, the teams currently in the play off's have all conceded 30 goals or more, very similar to ourselves so we should not be too pessimistic on that front.
Goals have been in short supply yes, but we have scored in 19 of our 22 games and with injured strikers returning and Loft signed we can hopefully look forward to better days in front of goal and winning more than we lose.
Going all Rich here, but if, Barton starts to get the best out of the squad at his disposal and gets the tactics / formation spot on, then I see no reason not to check the oil, tyre pressure etc on the bus and get ready to enjoy the rollercoaster ride that is Bristol Rovers.
Despite all the early season disappointments we have suffered, I still believe we will be there or there about come May and could we see history repeat itself on May 7th with the possibility of an already relegated team, this time Scunthorpe United, visit The Mem with promotion still on the cards. Dare we dream?

Well if we’re serious about making a play off push we need to be beating the likes of Swindon.

A victory and a draw in the next three fixtures would be a sign that there is demonstrable improvement.
The position after the first TEN league games was:
P – 10, W – 3, D – 1, L – 6, GF – 9, GA – 17, GD – 8, PTS – 10.
The position after TWENTY league games was:
P – 20, W – 6, D – 5, L – 9, GF – 23, GA – 31, GD – 8, PTS – 23.
The position after TWENTY TWO league games is:
P – 22, W – 8, D – 5, L – 9, GF – 29, GA – 33, GD – 4, PTS – 29.

I don’t think we were totally outplayed. I thought it was anyones game until the sending off and penalty, then we were over run. Game of opinions.I thought Swindon were the best side I’ve seen at the mem this season and absolutely battered us all game. Being 1-0 up at half time was unbelievably flattering. We are a much better/ tougher side to beat now but will still be a very difficult game Saturday and I’d take a point if offered it now. Don’t disagree Swindon were better on the day, but we were still in the game until 85h minute penalty and I think we would have held out if that hadn’t been awarded. I think we are a better side now, but we will still need to be at our best and hope they have an off day to get the result we need there. UTG

Well if we’re serious about making a play off push we need to be beating the likes of Swindon. Not sure that's the case has using that logic we should be beating virtually every team, apart from FGR, between now and the end of the season, what we need to do is try and ensure we don't lose, I fear a loss could well end any slim chance we have of making the play offs as it would indicate we're still not a top 7 challenging side, even with a virtually full squad to choose from.

For a lot of the season we have played 3 at that back with 2 wing backs - the problem being that we didnt have any wingbacks so their wingers had the freedom of the park. We also had no one up front who could hold the ball and it just rebounded straight back to them . This game will be different and if Rovers had any sense they they would defend in numbers , crowd Swindon out and then hit them on the break - we wont do that though as Barton likes to go forward. We will have Finley back however and he has been the missing piece of our midfield jigsaw. it will be a completely different game from the one at the Mem

UTG For me, the key thing is they showed exactly how to beat us - as have one or two other teams. We try to play out from the back, but are vulnerable to a high press as ate players weren't good enough to cope. On the other hand, we didn't press. I think we will press more, but can we play out from the
back better now? Onwards and upwards

Well if you can’t beat Scunthorpe you need shagging I can’t beat Scunthorpe. Doesn’t necessarily mean you end up shagging.

The next 3 games may show if we can fit all the players we want to play into a formation that works. Couldnt on Saturday, but rode our luck. SWindon we will surely beef up the midfield. Would be happy with a point saturday and then 2 winnable games. Will Swindon be on iFollow?

The next 8 weeks are make or break for the season. With our games in hand it is Saturday/tuesday pretty much every week bar 1 or 2. Hit good form over this period and we could really shoot up the table

Well, Rovers managed to win despite a very poor performance. Hartlepool must be bitterly disappointed! Still, if we can win with that display the tide must really be turning. Not so sure a below performance will be sufficient for three points at Swindon. I still think a mid-table finish is most likely. Agreed. To be honest, few months ago I'd have been happy with mid table. Nothings changed. But, handful of performances, bit of luck, you never know. As it stands, I'm happy.

March’s fixtures look daunting but with a team that’s just won back to back league games we should be going into the Swindon game full of confidence. I reckon JB will have them right up for it after the match at the Mem as will feel in a better place to compete against them. Let’s just hope no stupid sending offs.

Well that’s how you play crap and win - which in my book is promotion form. Ok we aren’t talking promotion quite yet unless you are JB of course but we can think about kicking on now and considering the play-offs now we have a bigger squad in the reckoning. So next 3 games - what do you reckon. Swindon Away Scunthorpe Away Walsall home How about 6 points Regardless of performance any team will need some luck. We have to learn to take our and not moan about it as it seems to balance out over a season. I would be fine with winning a few more in this manner

So a good point, being disappointed we didnt get the 3 we may have deserved is a good sign. Tomorrow is the big one for me tho. We are expected to win against a team in the relegation places having lost the last 4 games? We have the team to do it, and for the first time in ages probably know the starting 11. Hoping for an enjoyable evening on iFollow and 3 points. Then we head to the Mem Saturday for what will surely be a big crowd and the chance to get 3 more! UTG
