I wouldn't be surprised if McKirdy himself wrote it, seems to have an ego greater than his ability. Although 'propa fumin' and 'sausage' wasn't used anywhere?

Hope they trace him sad that some kids cant attend matches. What is sadder is the fact his mum does'nt have enough money for food. All children get free school meals at that age. So the reason he can't go, isn't because she has to pay for free school meals. Probably a fake. So many people sucked in by it online though, nearly 7k raised now! Who does the money go to, if they don't find out who Joe is, or if it's fake??

Nearly 7k raised now!! No offense, but probably I wouldn't give, not knowing if it's real. No idea where the money is going to go.

I hope this is a true story. The writing and spelling doesn’t look like a 6 year old to me. If confirmed true I will definitely donate.

Anything over 6k will effect benefits, so won't help them anyway. Most be lots of people that are in that situation for real. Maybe clubs should do discounted tickets, for people on benefits? Anyone on universal credit, or a similar benefit, could get cheap tickets, a few times a season. Unfortunately lots of children at that age can't attend football matches.

Also, do kids still use 1/2's on their ages these days, my kids never did. Just looks like someone trying to make it look like a child wrote it, but would be happy if proved wrong.

I would be happy to purchase a ticket for someone who could not afford to go, adult or child is there anywhere I can donate this so it gets in the right hands. Thanks That’s great to hear - I’m not sure if there is a dedicated way to buy specific tickets for people but you could make a donation to the value of a ticket into the Community Trust as they tend to coordinate things like this and also the wider activities with the community… Link is here if anyone wanted to donate to our community trust… www.bristolroverscommunity.org.uk/donate

Update from Mark Bevans' Just Giving page. -
With us not being able to find Joe, we discussed possible options to utilise this money raised and support children who are in a similar position to Joe. We would like to give half of the money to the Swindon Food Collective that are an independent food bank in Swindon and currently feed nearly 7500 people per year, of which one-third of these are children.
The other half of the money will go to Swindon Town FC Community Foundation and be spent on giving children and their families the opportunity to have a match day package at Swindon Town FC. This will allow over 300 children to enjoy a professional coaching session, have a pre-match lunch and then watch a first team match at the County Ground. The Community Foundation will work in partnership with local schools to identify the children and families that are in financial hardship, like Joe’s story.
We do hope that everyone who has contributed to this fund will support the great causes that your donations will really help. Many Thanks Mark

No wonder they can't find him. I mean who would openly admit to support those 6 fingered lot.

You've got to be pretty vile to make up a problem to get good hearted people to give you money.

The bit about paying for school dinners for a 6 year old was a schoolboy error!
I'm glad that people who are genuinely in need will benefit from the funds raised.

Surely if the letter was hand delivered they could have traced the person that posted the letter on CCTV?
They must have tv cameras all around the stadium?
