Moving on from my 6 years of Wael thread, apparently today is 1 year of JB. Let's not get into a love to hate thread. As a hater at even the thought of the bloke joining us back then, I've changed my mind and you can't deny that he's brought the Squad together and it's actually a Team we want to watch play.
Thoughts?

My take on JB would be thus:
Despite alleged misdemeanours in his private life and proven misdemeanours on the field of play or whilst on club (other clubs) time, I like the bloke. He is one of the best we have had in front of the camera and there is no doubt that he is a motivator. As with Ian Holloway, in the lower leagues where you invariably have less finances to get players in, you rely on making connections with fanbases and motivating the players you have. Holloway was great at this and would make average players feel like world beaters. As with JB Holloways tactical nouse could be questionable but boy would he get teams fighting for the cause, I believe this is half (maybe more) of the battle, especially at our level. Combine that fighting spirit, motivation, and fanbase connection with a bit of momentum and you have a footballing train that aint stopping at the next station.
Anyway 3 points tonight and we will have a chance. UTG!

I’d rate his tenure a 4/10. It was a 1/10 until around November when we beat Oxford in the cup. Definitely turned a corner and long may it continue.

Registered two hours ago. Very Odd first post. Have you been waiting this long to make this point. Unlikely fan of Rovers. Clearly a Ted with nothing better to do. You need to do better than this to fool this forum. Gotcha my friend. Look forward to seeing your next few posts, as you get with the new positive programme of success that we are now witnessing.

Hard for forget the bad-mouthing and terrible performances of last season where he gave-up on the chance of staying-up when he arrived. Yep,things have improved since Christmas and there is a reasonable chance of a play-off spot and even promotion. No miracle worker but performances now reflect the budget which is all you can ask from a manager. Still find him a pain to listen to and would still be happier without him at the club but realise that view is very much in the minority now and will be even more so if the wife-beating case collapses next month.

It’s a view, luckily not shared by many at matches. We are leaving the past behind. When we perform again tonight, pretty sure we will have turned the corner and left this stuff behind. We are playing great football these days. Looking forward to matches these days. Can’t wait.

Sad to see some have given up watching completely. Even the HerGameToo girls are still attending home and away!

Think he’s learned a bit of humility since being here and just because he’s a ‘name’ doesn’t guarantee success . He had a catastrophic start , a slow middle and his side is just moving into top gears now .
For my money he still needs to deliver playoffs as a minimum this season and even then I’d be disappointed if we don’t get promoted. It’s a water poor league and the only decent side in it is Forest Green.

Even if we don’t make the playoffs, I’d 100% trust him to take us up next season.. turnt the club round a lot in the last year and all Managers need time

So you’re reaction to a post that doesn’t suit you is to accuse me of being a ted , I’ve supported rovers since I was a kid , I’m now 60 , I live in Lincolnshire ( Grantham ) , I left Bristol 30 yrs ago , the easy thing to do would be to go and watch forest / notts county 30 miles down the a52 but no I’ve carried on following my team as much as I can , home is a 300 round trip , so even though I’ve spent the best part of 60 yrs supporting this club I’m not a fan because I’ve a different opinion on the manager to you

As a hater at even the thought of the bloke joining us back then, I've changed my mind and you can't deny that he's brought the Squad together and it's actually a Team we want to watch play. Thoughts? I didn't want him due to his past and thought his management record was OK not good or bad. Having said that, I always like to back our managers and give a chance. I think with him seeing things as a player at a higher level, having the right contacts and determination to succeed he is doing OK. Wael has backed him so full credit for that to Wael. I might be getting carried away but I think this will pay dividends and see us go back up. We are honestly playing some of the best football for Rovers right now and I'm always excited to watch us under Barton due to playing to win, trying to play the right way and having a bit of aggression about us.

No problem with different views, just odd after all this time, your first post is the one above. I look forward to seeing more of your opinions. Your love of the club didn’t come through in your very first post. You seemed to hold back on the anger for months. The majority on here appreciate new members and the insight their posts offer. I look forward to seeing your posts in the future as we build upon our recent form, I’m sure with your history you will have lots to say. Lots to be happy about my friend. Enjoy.

This is what he does, attempts to silence debate. He did it before and reflected on it but here we are again. I agree with your points. Only when back in league 1 will I consider his tenure as neutral. Pay no mind to Hertford nobody takes him seriously.
