1 year of JB. I'm struggling to be honest. I hated his appointment based on his convictions for violence, which I'm sure none on here condone. I am still staying away, but know in truth I'm punishing myself more than anything else. I have invested the money I can afford in the club whenever possible. I'm still a supporter and a fan, but coming back now we are on a run seems hypocritical. I love the Gas and want success, I really don't know what to do. Life's too short mate, get yourself up The Mem! Nobody will think any the less of you for getting behind the team, and getting some enjoyment for yourself from it. Doesn't make you a hypocrite in my eyes, you're not condoning anything JB may have done.

So you’re reaction to a post that doesn’t suit you is to accuse me of being a ted , I’ve supported rovers since I was a kid , I’m now 60 , I live in Lincolnshire ( Grantham ) , I left Bristol 30 yrs ago , the easy thing to do would be to go and watch forest / notts county 30 miles down the a52 but no I’ve carried on following my team as much as I can , home is a 300 round trip , so even though I’ve spent the best part of 60 yrs supporting this club I’m not a fan because I’ve a different opinion on the manager to you It seems that it is now a crime to hate Barton. I have also been a supporter since 1971 and have always followed the Gas but god forbid I should now say anything detrimental about 'Sir' Joey. In my view he's been here one year too long. I will be delighted to see him go. I also realise that probably won't happen anytime soon so I will have to bide my time and listen to some of the posters on this Forum fawning about him. I'm a great believer that revenge is a dish best served cold so I will wait until he has dug himself a hole that he can't crawl out of. In the mean time I will wish for the team to play great football and continue in the direction they are going. It's not a crime to hate Barton, everybody is entitled to their opinion and should be free to express it. I'm not sure what it is you're wanting revenge for though?

Many of last years we've been like that haven't we? Loans etc? It's just how it works in the lower leagues. We loan, they go back, we loan others. Yeovil did that to the extreme and got found out. I don't think its the use of loans that got them found out. It was the fact that they don't have the infrastructure, backing and support to be anything other than a club that hovers between Conf/League Two. There is that. Makes Wael at the helm a gift we should all be thankful for.

I don't like what you did, I don't agree with what you did, but to miss out on something special that's happening at the moment, as a long suffering Gashead, is a real shame. Shoulders back, get back down there and shout for the lads. You'll have a welcome back from me that's for sure.

It's a matter of perspective if you feel Joey "gave up" and let us get relegated to L2 or if we were doomed to relegation anyway. Fact of the matter was he had no transfer window, was the third manager in a single season and was a final roll of the dice to avoid relegation.
IMO we were always going to get relegated last season. I was suggesting we were at risk before we even kicked a ball. We had an opportunity to correct this before the winter transfer window but hired Tisdale and I don't think it's a coincidence we absolutely leathered them at the weekend (even if I thought he was the right man at the time). I personally can't begrudge him that relegation.
As for this season - fresh slate as far as I'm concerned. We got off to a poor start and were now sitting outside the playoffs but no club is entitled to promotion regardless of how much they spend in a league and no matter their size respectively to the rest in terms of support.
We're powering up the league and I feel like we can sustain this and seek to go further and fight for the autos never mind the playoffs.
This mirrors the 2014-2016 situation and I reckon that we could in time be forgiving Joey for a bad start owing to subsequent promotions much in the same way we do for DC. Can we ever love him in the way we love DC? Owing to some of his character flaws and against the opposite with Darrell probably not but that's not to mean he can't have just as big if not bigger impact on the club following a leading relegation.
The gas are coming....

Probably best you stay away my old fruit

Joe has done an absolutely fantastic job for Rovers!
What we need now is for Wael to actually deliver a new stadium.
Obviously easier said than done, but he's not new to the job now.
Joe is delivering quite brilliantly ,therefore we need the stadium to match the onfield tempo towards success,or yet again,Rovers will not be able to reach our potential.

Oka, so maybe revenge is not the appropriate word and I should have use 'Karma' but it would be revenge for all the people he has bullied, attacked etc. Either way I just don't want him associated with the club.

He has ruined my Saturday afternoons by being there so whilst (as I said in a reply to another post) I should have used the word 'Karma' that hope that he soon leaves the club and stop the divide in the fans ...and yes, there is still a divide but I appreciate that some of the Barton haters put team results first and whilst things are good are willing to accept him as our manager. That's fair enough. It has only been 3 good games (who can forget Oldham!!) so I will 'accept' him as a football manager if the results carry on the way they have been for most of the upcoming games. But, as I have stated several times before, it is not about his managerial ability that I don't want him here so if he gets through his next court case I assume he will be here for a while.

Interesting debate/posts here today. I think everyone should make their own mind up, and whatever their thoughts etc it makes them no more or less of a supporter. I think SleepyGas sums it up nicely, respecting others.
Seems like most people are accepting of others views and while not necessarily agreeing with them totally respect them.
The things I don’t like to see are the young lady earlier in the thread judged by others, she should not have been singled out in my opinion and it showed a lack of compassion to a fellow Gashead. The other thing I don’t like is the silly labelling of fans as ‘snowflakes and woke’ and by people on the other side of the argument as ‘gammons’ . These really are ridiculous terms and very disrespectful and in my opinion are just insulting. Live and let live 💙

Even People I know personally have taken up position on a very high horse and make nothing but smug/snide remarks to anyone who currently dares to enjoy this Rovers side. Almost making YOU feel bad for continuing to support the club! Live and let live all the way! E I E I E I O……

Your love of the club didn’t come through in your very first post. You seemed to hold back on the anger for months. The majority on here appreciate new members and the insight their posts offer. I look forward to seeing your posts in the future as we build upon our recent form, I’m sure with your history you will have lots to say. Lots to be happy about my friend. Enjoy. Christ rich! This forum, I think, welcomes different views. You are the transport manager on here, which we all appreciate. Not the Fat Controller. 😉 Anyway, welcome harlaxtonblue. UTG!

Think he’s learned a bit of humility since being here and just because he’s a ‘name’ doesn’t guarantee success . He had a catastrophic start , a slow middle and his side is just moving into top gears now . For my money he still needs to deliver playoffs as a minimum this season and even then I’d be disappointed if we don’t get promoted. It’s a water poor league and the only decent side in it is Forest Green. Spot on yatton. I think he has learnt a lot since he’s been here. He’s not the type to come out and apologise straightout but he seems to learn and his behaviour has changed. I hope that’s not just because we’ve started winning. He has been very fortunate to have had such an understanding owner like Wael who kept patience after some very low points in September and October. Even JB said yesterday how he could have lost the job after the Orient home match. So JB has learnt (esp the bit about a back 4!!) and he seems much more relaxed that he was. It’s a different job than Fleetwood. Much more pressure from a large and vociferous fanbase and I think he realises, more than many managers, the potential here. Basically I think he realises he has an opportunity here to do something big. Much bigger than Fleetwood imho. I don’t like the fact that we got relegated on his watch but I don’t blame him completely for that but, like others, I do blame him for the manner in which we went down. The surrender after the draw at Northampton was completely against what I thought we were all about. It was abject and leaves a sour taste. Teams get relegated, that’s football, but the manner in which we went down was very un-Rovers. Tbh he has some more obstacles to cross before he will get the free run at football things he needs. But I can’t deny that he has assembled a very good squad who are playing with a great spirit and in a way that is better than any I’ve seen for many a year. Probably due to the best group of midfielders we’ve had for a very long time. And I like the way the top of the club, him, Tom G and Wael all seem to be very together. And we are where we are and we have to move on from there. Which we seem to be doing. Let’s hope we can keep it up. 👍 UTG!
