Fans bang on about the play offs, but the play offs are a lottery, we need to be above them and if we can keep our players fit especially the back four and work hard we can get that top three spot. UTG

I look at the league table and rue every time the Colchester and Salford games. Those extra 4 points would have us sat 4th with a game in hand on the top 3. Every team in the league have points they could or should've taken. If wishes were kisses....

Has anyone ever seen Whelan and Iniesta in the same room? Not sure Whelan has played a forward pass since Iniesta retired. He’s still playing in Japan I believe.

Belly best keeper we’ve had since Nigel Martyn ? I can’t think of a better one over a 30 odd game period. I guess this is the fourth division and Brian Parkin for example was championship/ league 1. But some incredible saves tonight again by our number 1. UTG Nope Brian Parkin or Steve Phillips for me. Still a good keeper though. Both of those had bloody good defences in front of them though. I’m not convinced we’ve got a bloody good defence , Belly seems to save us when things go Pete Tong and our defence goes that way quite a lot, But I like your two choices. I’d probably have Anderson who was on loan , lumley and the other keeper forgot his name who went to gills in the top 3 loans. Oh and Conrad We’ve had some bloody good loan keepers to be fair. Belly’s Class though , we could play him in midfield and he wouldn’t look out of place with the ball at his feet. That save at the end he pushed over the bar top notch.

What a cold, wet, frustrating evening that was! Very, very relieved to come away with a win and a critical three points, taking us to within two points of the playoffs and five points away from the last automatic promotion position. Crazy!
Barrow started the game strongly and kept us pushed back deep in our own half for the first ten minutes. They certainly did not look like a team at the bottom of the table initially.
Once we got a hold of the game, Barrow reverted to a defensive game plan and played for the next 70 minutes for a 0-0 draw. They defended resolutely throughout the game and gave us all a lesson in time wasting. It was like watching the Italian national team of old. Players fell over, kicked the ball away, carried the ball around like that spoilt kid at the park who brought the ball and refused to play when his side was losing....
Their game plan very nearly worked to perfection. It was only a wonder goal from Anthony Evans after 81 minutes that change the game and kicked Barrow to life. From that point on, Barrow played like a team possessed. I could hardly believe that this terrible time wasting negative outfit had the ability to attack at pace.
For the final ten minutes plus an eternity of added time, Barrow battered our goal. How on earth they failed to score is beyond me. Belshaw made a save whilst led on the ground, I think they hit the post. It was a crazy last 15 minutes..
Apart from the start and end of the game, we completely dominated the game and laid siege to the Barrow goal. We tried and tried to work down their right side and threw cross after cross into the box to very little effect. We also seemed to want to pass our way into the goal.
We fully deserved to win the game tonight, although I felt it was slipping away from us after so many missed chances.
Good to see Leon Clarke get some decent minutes tonight. He had a couple of golden chances, which I am sure he would have scored had he been match sharp. Him being in the right place at the right time is encouraging though. We need some goals from him before the season is done.
Fair play to the small number that travelled from Barrow. They were loud for their numbers, although their one song was getting a bit annoying by the end.
We are very much still on course for the playoffs, we just need to keep this run going.

Not sure Whelan has played a forward pass since Iniesta retired. 🤣 That's a bit harsh tonight. He was superb marshalling the midfield. Plenty of times he put his foot on the ball and moved forward. Second half he was taking it from deep and running forward waving his arms to get them up the field. He's been a great squad player for us this season. Canny player who can calm things down and also stop the opposition playing. I thought Billy Elliot was superb again tonight, what a signing that has been and Sir Evans... Well what a belter that was! Superb strike. Belly did his bit, sounds like I'm playing it down but he's been so good I'm always confident he'll make a save! Onwards and upwards! #UTG I thought Elliot was disappointing, Collins direct running was far more effective.

In a lottery you buy a ticket and hope your number gets pulled out of a hat. In penalties it’s a test of skill and bottle. Same for play offs.

One of those nights.
10 men behind the ball bastardo’s whilst not helping ourselves with too much *ing about with it & getting nothing into the box (let alone quality) A moment of magic from the Filton Ave Figo to secure a precious three points. Makes up for all of those abysmal corners!
Barrow get what they deserve, time wasting on another level of fuckery to anything I’ve seen before. & a ref who didn’t card a single one of them for it. Note the urgency after they had to sew the hole closed in the back of that net. Hope the journey back to DismalLand is rife with motorway closures, a flatty and a blocked crapper.
Onto Newport then, a proper test in a heated atmosphere backed by the Gas faithful. Finley & Coutts fresh with Collins also partially rested. Bring them on!
