I’ve finally persuaded my boy to come to the Bradford game at home.
We usually stand on the Thatchers, him down the front on his stool pretty much to the side of the goal
However, this time I’ve bought tickets for the first time on the Poplar terrace. Never stood there before!! Just wondered what others make of different parts of the ground? I’ve sat in the Poplar seats (great view) and South Stand tent (not so agreeable) but no where else!!
As an old Twerton boy I still (even at 50) like a bit of noise and singing, I’m guessing Irene is still blasted out right across the terrace?
Any tips on a good spot for an old fart and his 12 year old lad??

If so I like it there personally as can get near the dugout and watch the managers bicker with the 4th official etc. I like that sort of thing.

Yes I think so? The Poplar Insulation stand. I also heard it called the Dribuild?
The view of the pitch from up in the seats is fantastic. Great view over the surrounding area too.
I’ve never stood on the side, can you choose from all the way along?
If so, where do people like to watch from? I like the idea of giving Hughes an earful when 4-0 up!!
Trust it’s uncovered? Hope it doesn’t rain.

I've sat in the East Stand - which I think is Poplar. Nice view, but despite the roof the wind blows the rain in and you still get soaked. On sunny days you end up having the block the sun from your eyes.
Stood on the East Terrace - not for me, totally exposed to the elements, and the dugouts obscure the view. You do get to hear the managers etc., which can get interesting.
Sat in the South West Stand - view not terrible if you're on the left side when facing the pitch, but not great anywhere else. The tent has struts holding it up which can get in the way. It's pretty sheltered though, but on windy days you can feel like your life is at risk being in there.
I don't like being behind the goal, so have rarely been at either end.
My favourite place is where I currently stand - on the west terrace. Nice and sheltered from the wind that always comes from behind the west Stand. Get high up on the terrace around the halfway line and the view is great! The singing often spreads across the terrace too.

I like the North West terrace. The atmosphere in the Thatcher's end is good but I just don't like the view from behind the goal. On the corner you are close enough to the Thatcher's to get the atmosphere but have a much better view of the play.

Front section of the East Terrace for me, in line with the edge of the box.
- Right on top of the play when it’s up that end - Superb view of the goal mouth action (seen some bangers this season) - Experience the superb atmosphere drummed up by the Thatchers End, especially when the net breaks - Clear view of what’s happening at the other end - Decent bar for pre match/half time bevvies - Right next to the pasty hut
Big negative if standing in the rain bothers you, just sling on a big dependable waterproof. Hardcore😎

Me and both my boys have always watched from the Blackthorn end.
They are a lot older now, but we still choose the North stand even if they stand with there mates.
It’s not the same allowing the kids to stand right behind the goal hanging over the advertising boards, I understand the rules now, but the memories won’t be the same for a lot of kids in that end anymore which is a real shame

I’m guessing you can choose your spot along the Poplar (east) terrace right along, from the family tent to the away end?
I’m just thinking where would be best for a young lad to get a good view?
Interesting comments on the other terrace, maybe try there next time!!
Work my way around our glorious stadium bit by bit. Take it all in before we announce our new 27,000 all seater stadium next year.

I’ve been a ST holder in the Thatchers end for 10+ years now, but considering moving to one of the side terraces next season. I like a good sing song and mosh pit after a goal, but generally see myself as a wannabe manager these days so might stand behind the away dugout and give the away gaffer some instead.

I feel the stand is based on the circle of life. With a bit of social class in it too.
If you’re a regular Joe, north terrace as a young man and boy. East terrace into middle age. Family stand/enclosure next. Then on to the seating in old age.
If you’re wealthy, same principle but in the west stand.

I love standing but you are right, the knees were starting to give me grief second half v Harrogate!! Then again, I sometimes go to QPR with my boss when he has a spare ticket, and the seats there are so close together I can’t walk after sitting there for 90 minutes!! There will come a time in the future when generations laugh at us standing up to watch a game. I’m fully aware of taking it all in, our stadium is a dump but it’s a timeless relic and pretty unique really!! Will I miss it when it’s gone…… ??

(Off topic I know but …) My memory might be playing tricks but sure there was a time at Twerton when you could start on the terrace behind the goal near the away end and then walk back around the popular side to the other end at half time (family terrace?) when the teams changed ends. (Though I eventually settled on standing around pillar ‘G’ on the popular side as my main spot - the place to be as a teenager!).

Nope I don’t think your memory is playing you up there, stopped after the stand was burnt out and that temporary stand went up. Who would of thought that was the first of many?

Parked up in my usual spot up at the Inn on the Green and met 2 Bradford fans who now reside in Bristol. Reminisced about my going there back in the early 90’s with Gareth Taylor’s dad.
Then the walk up the theatre of gas dreams, my son getting more and more nervous and saying we should go in even though it was an hour til kick off
I’ll have a pint first son. Come see the Fanzone. You’ll like it.
Great to see so many happy faces, there is a real buzz around the place, and finally we enter at around 2.20
I spent about 15 minutes walking up and down the fairly shallow terracing with the lad, not here, I can’t see the whole pitch, what If someone tall stands there….
Until he finally said can we stand right under the family stand? On the one row of terrace. Why not? Seemed like a good plan. No-one to obscure the view!!
And it turned out well. Great spot to laugh at everyone abusing the linesman. And great to hear the Blackthorn in full voice!! Credit to them yesterday, that was some performance
As for on the pitch, EVERYONE played well. Some lovely football, never panicked and what a strike from Finley.
The defence look tight and composed, the midfield balance is right, and if Evans can return we will be even stronger.
I’ve got tickets for Scunthorpe back on the Blackthorn with the lad. Hoping we have something to go for. Either way, it’s been great to finally feel that we have our Rovers back!!
