You can’t get much better contract news than the signing of our Player of the Season! Fantastic stuff, hope he turns out to be one of those players who settles and stays with us a long time. Well done Belly, Richly deserved 💙 Fully agree player of the season that save from the volley at Sixfields last week kept us in the autos for 30 mins amd saved us two monumental points overall pivotal player in a crucial position great have this settled right now

It is great news that he’s signed up for longer. Good keeper and great character and he would do well in a higher league so no worries on that score. But, is it only me who thinks that a club who will likely be in the play offs and has a good chance of automatic promotion is going to have their keeper as their player of the season? If he got it it would be very well deserved but it must be unusual that a keeper of such a successful team (if we went up) to be considered POTS.
Not disagreeing I just think it’s slightly strange even very unusual for that to happen.
UTG!

My daughter will be well happy… I’ve got her into watching the gas this season and since she was a mascot at the Hartlepool game and ran out with Belly, she’s had a proper little crush on him! She may only be 8 nearly 9 but she’s always wanting to try and see him and always asking about him when we’re at the ground…. 😂😂

Best keeper in our league and probably league 1 and I think he wouldn't look out of place in the Championship either, best goalkeeper we have had since Nigel Martin and Brian Parkin Yeah other than perhaps Brian Parkin I cant think of a better keeper that we’ve had since Nigel Martyn. We’ve had some cracking loans who have done brilliantly over 6 months - year but hopefully Belly will go on to be a Gas legend like Brian and Nigel

I think lately although he’s been brilliant he hasn’t carried the defence like he did earlier in the season simply because we’ve been defending better and been looking overal much more solid when we haven’t got the ball. But again that’s a part he’s had in too. He hasn’t had to make so many great saves because he’s organised the defence to the point he hasn’t had too. Credit there goes to everyone but as Peter Shilton once said the best keepers aren’t the ones that make the best saves they’re the ones that don’t have to.

Sadly, Nigel didn't win anything with Rovers though. However is was Brian Parkin that was the keeper for me, he had the same connection with the fans that Belly has. Remember singing "Brian, Brian Parkin" when he put his outstretched arms in the air and started conducting the fans. CLASS.

Brian was a great keeper but when the "can't pass back to the keeper and him pick it up" rule came in he was exposed, as he was nowhere near as good as our current sweeper keeper with his feet

Can you name them?

He’s hench, body like a greek god. I’m totally straight but I almost felt a bit “confused” when I saw that! Women want to be with him. Men want to be him. Belshaw is a legend.

His performances together with the back four being a very stable unit have all coincided at the same time. He is a great communicator, gives the defence confidence and organise them all very well. I hope he keeps it up for the next 8 or 10 or 11 games! UTG!

As you say, the confidence our back 4 take from that ability must be priceless. Good business by whomever put the deal together, and thanks to Wael for funding.it.

It's a shame Jaakola can't get some games rather than festering away. He's a great keeper. Remember the alternate games thing England did with Shilton and Clemence? It seemed sort of fair but nobody really liked it, especially the England back four, I imagine. He and Belly are just too different in their styles, especially given Belly's sweeper keeper thing. Perhaps Jaakola will be gone at the end of the season for one last chance elsewhere.

According to Belshaw, Warner our goalkeeping coach is good pals with Belshaw's agent and that is how the move came about.

What is amazing is that the posh goal hasn’t happened more than once. It will happen again at some point, but its worth the risk for how many goals/chances the sweeper role he plays must prevent. Keep it up Belly

My son was the same with Brian Parkin, one year we bought a garden gnome, specially commissioned wearing the goalie top with "Parkin 1" on the back, wrapped it up and left it on his doorstep a few days before Christmas. Many years later my son played golf with Brian and Andy Tilson, and for a millisecond considered confessing to the gnome incident, but thought better of it!
