Prompted by the south stand closing thread, I’ll be finishing work overseas in August this year after 40 years away and first thing on my list is to get a season ticket. Question: how do I get a season ticket for the best seat? Front row west or east stand? Add my name to a list ? Or buy one and gradually work towards the best seats by changing the seat each year as better ones become available? Assuming we stay at the Mem of course.

Bring a deckchair for the East Terrace.
(In all seriousness, imagine it will be difficult unless TG has something amazing up his sleeve)

Suggest you don't even contemplate a “front row east stand” unless you like sitting in the middle of your garden on plastic garden furniture when it’s hammering down with cold rain and that’s probably the case for at least the first five rows. The east stand imo is not fit for purpose and should be condemned, personally I would not pay for a season ticket in that ‘stand’. The best place with limited options is the west stand - good luck, tickets are bit of a premium. Might be worth trying to ‘piggy back’ on the back of someone who owns a box if they’ve got a spare place - it may cost you a couple of grand for 23 games.

Doesn't have to be better for fans as long as the club makes more money. It's not as simple as that. If more fans can attend games, after the changes, then is it not better for more fans? A number of fans have been asking for the changes for years. Although as with every change, it won't suit every fan. If enough fans are unhappy with the planned changes, they might look into it again.

I’m lucky enough to be fairly central in West Stand. I upgraded to West Stand from enclosure when one of the pie in the sky new stadium schemes was looking possible and the plan was to get priority in the new all seater place 🤣. My first seat was very near the south end (of West Stand) but keeping in touch with “The lovely Clare” helped move to a good central seat in 3 or 4 seasons. At that time East and West Stands were the same prices through all age ranges. They aren’t any more. I now pay more as someone 65+ than if I were in the East Stand. I think the view is better in the East Stand as you can see all the pitch from just about all the seats and it’s easier to spot possible openings etc from the more elevated positions. However, the West Stand is more enclosed and generates it’s own atmosphere, especially at evening games. It’s close to the tunnel and is where the teams line up at the start of games. The directors’ guests seating is within it and often hosts interesting people including injured and younger players. The sun nor rain are ever a problem but seeing into the near corners is unless in the front row. In the last 10 years most of the seats around me are the same people so I don’t think I’ll be moving. Good luck in getting a seat ASAP. I’d get the best you can and try for an upgrade in the future - I’m fairly sure I got priority on seats not being renewed over new purchasers by having a seat already. Wherever I’m sure you will be made welcome. UTG!

I recommend the Thatchers terrace behind the goal. Back and leg ache after 90 mins, pillar in the way and/or some tall bloke who arrives at 3.15, and no hope of really seeing what’s happening at the South end of the pitch (just celebrate if everyone else does). What’s not to like?!!

I agree the view is brilliant but the old bones (particularly the legs) will not now take 'hosing down with rain' every so often (unless i went dressed as a trawlerman), so the season ticket had to go. The cold used to get to me as well as you're effectively stuck in your seat for the best part of two hours. The 'stadium' is no longer fit for the 21st century but sadly I cant see anything really changing in the next ten years.

Tried the East stand for one game (got seats at the back) - brilliant view but kids found it boring and I nearly got vertigo!
