How important are our next 2 games- 6 points & we’re still in with the chance of the 3rd place 4 points & were guaranteed a play off place 3 points or less & we could miss out completely Let’s get to Rochdale if you can & do our bit to help get the lads over the line We're not guaranteed a play off place with 4 points. That assumes Port vale and Mansfield only get another 2 points each and that Sutton don't win their two games. Why? If we get 4 points that would give us 78 points meaning no club outside of the playoff position at the moment with 2 games to go could catch us.

That guarantees a last minute winner against Scunthorpe after a draw at Rochdale Saturday then is the likely outcome.

Beat Rochdale and Scunthorpe and we will be in the play offs at least and could still be 3rd. If we get pipped then we go into the play offs in great form and expecting to go up. COYB!
UTG!

All we can do is look after our own games and see where we end up, first task is 4 points to cement a play off place, If we can take all 6 we'll give ourselves a chance, the others scrapping for top 3 could all conceivably drop points with the fixtures they have left. Yes Exeter & Forest Green will relax now they are up but I don't see either of them downing tools, they will want to win the title. Let's be honest if any of us had been offered this position in Dec we'd all have taken it.

Obviously assuming we can win are remaining 2 games I think our automatic chance come down to how motivated Exeter and FGR are for a title battle.
All 3 of the teams above us have to play one of those 2 teams. If Exeter and FGR both don't drop points in there last 2 and we win both of ours we are gaurenteed to finished above Vale and Mansfield and will be equal on points with Northampton if Exeter can only get a draw against them. So it's quite possible it come down to GD against Northampton last game of the season.
The current gap between us and them is 6 so would need a big swing but you probably couldn't ask for 2 better games for us to go and try and up our tally.
So we just gotta hope both Exeter and FGR go all out for the title. If they don't they it's probably gonna be playoffs for us.

Saturday
Carlisle v Stevenage Colchester v Walsall Crawley v Leyton Orient Forest Green v Harrogate Northampton v Exeter Rochdale v Bristol Rovers Scunthorpe v Hartlepool Sutton United v Bradford Swindon v Barrow Tranmere v Oldham
Monday
Salford v Mansfield Port Vale v Newport
Saturday
Barrow v Northampton Bradford v Carlisle Bristol Rovers v Scunthorpe Exeter v Port Vale Harrogate v Sutton United Hartlepool v Colchester Leyton Orient v Tranmere Mansfield v Forest Green Newport v Rochdale Oldham v Crawley Stevenage v Salford Walsall v Swindon
I'm hopeful that professional pride and desire to be champions (far more tangible on a player's CV) will cause Exeter and FGR to continue to fight it out. We still need to beat Rochdale and Scunthorpe and hope Northampton, Port Vale and Mansfield slip up at least once. Looking at the fixtures nothing is certain.
Plenty of twists and turns yet, even at this stage.

Very bad night ,results wise. I no longer have confidence in FGR beating Mansfield. Can only hope Exeter REALLY want to be champions and go out and win their final 2 games. Newport can no longer make the playoffs the dissapointment might give Vale the upperhand in their game on Monday. Swindon are likely to win their last 2 . Based upon that premise...
Victory at Rochdale and autos are still possible. A draw and the playoffs are guaranteed only if a victory against scunthorpe follows. A defeat and we wont make the playoffs unless we beat Scunthorpe 10 nil.
It will be a very good time for Collins and Evans to find their scoring boots again.

Flicking between the various games tonight, make no mistake, Exeter & FGR badly wanted to win. That won’t change in the next two, Dale will want that title as will the Grecians. They haven’t been top all season and would love to Nick it at the last (surely?)

What a cracking end we now have to the league 2 season.
3 Northampton 76 4 Port Vale 75 5 Mansfield 75 6 Gas 74 7 Sutton 73 8 Swindon 71
All 6 of these teams can still get auto promotion but none of them are yet guaranteed play off spots!

Best case for the weekend Exeter beat Northampton and both Mansfield and Vale get no more than a point and of course we need to win our own games.

Getting to the play offs would be a achievement after last seasons debacle the team we have now was more or less built from scrach ?

As plenty have said ,all we can do is win our last two games, if that aint enough so be it, none of the contenders seem prepared to give up! which is a bit unsporting!

They haven’t been top all season and would love to Nick it at the last (surely?) If FGR so badly wanted to win what were they doing conceding two first half goals to Swindon, who've hardly been in stunning form recently? Plus Swindon played most of the second half with 10 men. We're in a difficult position now as we simply can't afford to now miss out on the playoffs, so picking up 1 point v Rochdale appears far more important than going all out for 3 pts and potentially losing and then not even making the playoffs.

Let's face it straight promotion has most likely gone after last night's results, as it's unlikely 3 clubs will all slip up. The worry now is won't even finish 4th or 5th unless we win both of our remaining games, even then it's not guaranteed. Looking on the positives, if Mansfield now join FGR and Exeter as the promoted clubs then we're more than capable of beating the other 3 clubs left in the playoffs.

I dont want to worry anyone, but Rochdale have only lost 4 games at home all season. Exeter players were out partying last night too so don't expect any favours from them

Not like they let them in😂😂 First one McKirdy was played in down the right flank & played a cracking ball to the back stick where Louis Barry finished into an open net. The second one came from a long searching ball over the top into the channel, where the Swindon lad was so far offside it was actually incredible. After the card it was all FGR & Swindon had every body on the line. It’s football, it happens. Certainly not for the want of trying on the vegans part. Play for a point at Rochdale thankfully won’t be on the menu, this side are way too good for that lark. Play our game with our strongest XI & we leave with 3 huge points, job done.

FGR will want to win the league having been top for so long. Exeter will want to win the league now they are level. Make no bones about it, they will be fighting.
As much as we need outside help to go up automatically, we just need to go out and win our games and the rest will take care of itself.
