Well done to John Kayes for organising this event on Friday 6 May (night before Final home game against Scunthorpe)
All the players from that magnificent season of 1989/90 when Rovers were champions of the third division (now League1) and were Leyland Daf cup finalists the clubs first Wembley experience hope to be there, even Paul Nixon who now lives in New Zealand
Being held at the Mem £20 from 630pm
Looking forward to it after it has been postponed twice due to Covid.

Bloody hell 32 years ago and we still celebrate it ? Should be a day we mourn the fact we have not been in the same league over 20 years

Winning promotion as champions has happened twice in the club's entire history 1953 and 1990
Beating City 82 on 2 May 1990 goes down with the 4 0 fa cup victory over the Busby Babes in 1956 as two iconic moments.
Celebrations don't need to be made at the end of May to return to the league we should never have left last season.

Bloody hell 32 years ago and we still celebrate it ? Should be a day we mourn the fact we have not been in the same league over 20 years It was meant to have been a 30th anniversary to be fair, but it’s been postponed twice due to COVID. I think it’s amazing all of those guys are coming to the evening. That won’t always be the case. Those days of glory are so special for a club of our size, that has never been in the top flight in our entire existence. That we still celebrate it now says a lot about the enormity of that particular achievement, against all odds with such a tight bond between the staff, players and fans. It makes me proud that we still celebrate those times. It was only our third promotion since we entered the league in how many years? It’s tragic what happened at Eastville and yes, we may have lost fans along the way because of a smaller capacity since, but we could so easily have gone out of business in the mid ‘80s and the spirit and character of the club is still intact, born and nurtured throughout our history. We must celebrate the good times, including Tann and Megson’s promotions and Trollope and Clarke’s too. It’s the stuff of folklore. It’s legend! Hopefully we will have a new chapter to celebrate soon! UTG!

Jesus, who do you think you are telling Gasheads what they can and can’t celebrate! I assure you this - Gasheads far and wide will celebrate like crazy if we manage to get promoted this season, and many of our young fan base will be celebrating their first Rovers promotion season and to them it will be the best season ever! God some of you are so aloof. 😩

I'm a bit bored with promotions now.
We never used to get promoted more than once every 20 years or so and we've had 3 in the last 15 years.
Oddly enough we still seem to be where we were in 2006.

Funnily enough I'm bored with relegations! We need to win another two promotions to get back to the division we were in when I started supporting the club (ie Championship equivalent). Oh for another Paul Randall or David Williams in this side.

Like JK loads, known him a long time due to being 58 and rovers away days with rats, just not the sort of thing that i would go to is all. I’d rather celebrate a promotion than look back and grieve, seeing that we haven’t been. In the same league over 20 years. OTIB will love this

your negativity is boring If you are not with us you are against us, i find that both a threat to the fan base and dangerous. Your thoughts on me are irrelevant and i really don’t care. I am totally indifferent to this.

your negativity is boring dont like celebrating.our past.hates are present and sees no positives in our future. Why bother.just dont get it. Wow, so black and white for you, wish life were so simple to categorise it as you do. I am 58 and actually remember us having some great teams, players who went onto prem level and not ever being 4th tier. Life could be difficult but there was not the bile and hatred that there is now. Winning the Watney cup, when it was worth winning, Mabbut, Barrett, Martyn, a slew a great strikers from Warboys and bannister to Robert’s, cureton, the duke and more. Marcus Stewart, Browning and Taylor and many many more very good players that we had ready to play when others left or got too old. Archie Stephens, Elliot.. we had great players who we never had to look far for. I am very happy i saw some very good players and teams. I am guessing you are maybe younger so didn’t know that Rovers , Christ, even glos cups had packed crowds and were taken seriously. I don’t like obsessing about one season as it’s just a reminder of how far we have fallen our present, no plans for a new stadium after 6 years of Wael, our place not being fit for purpose and getting to and from games, a nightmare. Why bother ? Because i have supported Rovers, through thick and thin for decades and made some lifelong friendships. Hope this helps
