The Bristol Rovers History Group are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Rovers winning the Watney Cup in 1972 at Eastville in August 2022. The match against First Division Sheffield United ended goal less and a penalty shoot our was required to decide the winners Spoiler alert Rovers won 7 6. If you have memorabilia or memories of the wonderful day please get in house.
We are trying to trace players Mike Green, Malcolm Dalrymple and Bryn and Wayne Jones to invite them along with Bruce Bannister, Tom Stanton and Frankie Prince etc
Any help appreciated

I was there - If you remember, the players ran out onto the pitch at kick-off and each player kicked a football into the crowd.
Each ball had the old cloth club badge stuck to the ball with plasters [class in the 70's]
I got Bruce Bannister's .... sadly I no longer have this much desired object, I think it eventually ended up kicked through Mrs Anderson's front window opposite side of the street
I Remember running on the pitch at the end with the ball pushed up under my coat
Happy days.

How about the parachutist that arrived with ball? Any chance of tracing him. I didn’t dream that did I😳?

I was there. I seem to recall that after the cup was presented, the table it was displayed on was left on the pitch. I took my chance along with one or two kids and jumped on the table just in time for the Evening Post photographer to snap us.
I was proud to see the next day I was on the front page of the paper, front centre of the crowd, and taller than all of them courtesy of the table. Or maybe it was the Green 'Un? Anyway, I was famous and that's all that matters.

I understand Tony Currie has died as Trevor Hockey and Alan Woodward. Sadly Rovers lost Sheppard Parsons Taylor and Godfrey.

I went onto the pitch and I was 13. I managed to grab hold of a shirt one of the players threw but had it stolen from Me by a bigger and older bloke. Gutted to this day. My parents were furious I got away from them and onto the pitch Great memories. Nervous pens. No one thought we had a chance. Glorious sun and double diamond in the pub under the M32, masons I think it was called
