The EFL are meeting all the clubs in June with a view to scrapping the UEFA ban on screening 1500 kickoffs.

Hopefully the clubs will do the right thing and vote to keep the 3:00pm rule.
Having the ability to stream every game from the comfort of home is a threat to physical attendances and thus a threat to food and merchandising revenue too.

If someone is going to opt for a single screen camera feed over physically attending the matches then they’ll probably not go to the match anyway if they can’t see it on ifollow
Many will use VPNs anyway to get around geo restrictions.
Roll on the change I say.

I see one option being considered is for clubs to agree this by themselves on a match by match basis. This would seem sensible as clubs who feel that attendances won’t be impacted and think they can get extra income can say yes, while others who see it is a threat to attendance and income from people coming through the gate can say no.
However, with vpns widely available and increasing known about, the debate is becoming less and less relevant anyway.

Then again we could receive a guaranteed £10,000/£20,000 extra for every away game? If it's such a threat why are the EFL even bothering with a vote as surely it would never be passed? VPN's probably mean any threat has already taken place anyway.

No rush then even if it's passed "Any changes to the rules aren't likely to take place until the beginning of the 2023/24 season."

I think the rule was introduced in the Premier league as they were worried people might stay in and watch live football rather than watch their own teams live. The point was disproved. Only 5 countries in the world cannot watch Premier league Saturday 3pm games on TV Wonder if further research was done regarding how many fans would rather watch their team on TV or turn up and have the full experience. Pint, food, crowd interaction and just getting out of the house for a few hours. Personally I'd go to the game but it's nice to have the TV option there for 'emergencies'

People are using VPN's to get a whole seasons worth of football for £140. If the ban is lifted, a lot of people will still continue using a VPN rather than paying £10 per match.

As you say, great for emergencies - I was laid up for 3 months with a health issue. TV would have been very nice (VPN's are beyond me). Otherwise - on the terrace in wind, rain, snow and hail.

Port Vale was on iFollow due to it being a Monday, yet we still had good numbers.

As a season ticket holder this is not relevant to me regarding home games, but I would be keen to watch some away games on IFollow, especially those "up north" which take ages to get to and are often freezing cold in the winter months. So if the choice is £10 (which goes mostly to Rovers) or paying another club about £20 plus travel costs, I know which I prefer. Also, we and other clubs probably have a number of older or disabled supporters who are no longer able to attend live games and it would be great if they could watch them on TV/PC/tablet and pay £10 to the club which they would otherwise miss out on.
The downside to live coverage is that it would affect the attendance on a filthy wet day (regardless of our stadium) and the people paying their £10 would not make up for those who didn't attend the games.
I'm a bit on the fence on the issue - I really didn't enjoy the covid season where all the games were on IFollow, but having said that, if we'd been successful instead of useless I probably would have thought it was a brilliant idea!

Put the prices of ifollow up double, think that would mean people would still rather go to the games.

If they make it so that the fan has to register with their club, and can't register for other clubs, then make away games available, particularly with the cost of fuel, being nearly £8 a gallon and only going one way. The club generates income (this can be shared or not), and the fan can choose to save some money, and the environment has a teeny tiny benefit too. get rid, I say (within limits).

It's a no brainer. The rule was brought in 50 years ago and since then countries complying by the rule have dropped by the wayside. To such an extent there are now only a handful still doing it. Get rid of it I say , won't stop this old boy ST holder attending home games until I physically can't and the club will benefit from me for away games.

Apparently the club already gets all the income once the home team sells 500 passes to away fans.
