First of all I want to say congratulations on promotion, any team that does what your players did on last game of season, against any team, composed of youth or not, deserves it.
You are the teamed I've fancied for a while now and if season was another 5 games I think you could have nicked the league.
Whilst your manager, is in no way shape or form the sort of human I relate to, you have brought in some good players and played some quality football.
I'm of the opinion that any fan who is a loyal supporter of their local team, rivals or not has more in common with each other than they would with someone who just supports one of the big six. We know the cold tuesday away nights, standing in a ground that's not fit for purpose(ours could be included with its 3 and half stands) or agony of losing your best players season after season, it's not always easy and can be expensive. So yes some of our fans, as pointed out on your forum, have not reacted in a particularly mature manor in defeat. However Im sure the most of you can see that the circumstances that we lost out to yesterday were nothing sort of unbelievable. So it's understandable that people will look to explain it in another way, yes it sounds delusional and can be laughed at, no doubt, but in time I'm sure they will accept it for what it is. That being, you get what you deserve out the season, you scored more goals than us and won by seven on final game of the season, so you deserve it.
Good luck next season, I in no way see us getting to the final. I fancy Swindon and Mansfield. I wouldn't look forward to us playing The plastics and Posh anyway,as like you, they always beat us.

Fair play to you for that. It should be said that despite score Scunthorpe did not roll over and played as well as they could. As has been the case recently as Port Vale and Rochdale will confirm, we are just too good when we get going.

Well done for posting following what must have been a devastating afternoon, I still can't quite believe it and know how I would be feeling should the roles be reversed. Whereas I believe we have been the best team in the division since Christmas we had so much ground to make up, and always thought the play offs was our best hope, so many teams were putting good runs together, including yourselves and to be fair you ain't done a lot wrong in recent weeks, Barrow have been on a good run and to win 3-1 there is no mean feat. As for Scunthorpe i have no idea how yesterdays team compared to recent weeks and its up to them who they select BUT i do know that if the boot was on the other foot our forum would be in melt down re fielding young players. I have no idea how play offs will go for you, Mansfield a competent outfit, to be honest because of our love of Vales Manager Darrell Clarke, a Rovers legend, most Gas eds will be rooting for them, but never the less, chin up, these things tend to even themselves up eventually and the football fates will turn in your favour again.

If we’d have failed to have gone up yesterday on GD it would have been pretty sickening for us. But we’d have acknowledged that we’d fallen short after a tough start to the season and accepted the playoffs as a reasonable
To have been pipped at the post at the last moment must have been absolutely gut wrenching and whilst there’s probably a bit of back and forth between some of your fans and ours, I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that this morning I feel for your supporters and how it played out yesterday.
Northampton are a proper club with proper supporters, something that is sadly declining in the football league. All the best in the play offs and/or next season! We did the same to Accrington 6 years ago and they soon made it up and have been flying ever since.

Fair play and thanks for the congratulations, that's very decent of you. I'm sure we'd be forensically examining the opposition's opponents (we did) if such a freak result went against us. Something worth mentioning is that it was a very similar Scunthorpe team that drew a week earlier with Hartlepool, it looks like 8 of the starting lineup was the same (and 9 after 30 minutes) so it wasn't like they threw in the towel yesterday just for us.

Thanks cobbler150, very well put and magnanimous. Best of luck to you and the club /team. I can assure you that, as said before, Scunthorpe kept fighting and didn't roll over. Not my thought, but a buddy stands with me, is that the holdup could have gone against us - we could have lost momentum, knowing we only had to hold on, and Scunny, with nothing to play for and no fear, could have nicked a goal, putting us out of the top 3. Fortunately didn't happen, but a possibility.

Fortunately didn't happen, but a possibility. Yes, amid all the conspiracy theories common sense seems to have gone out of the window. Reading the other forums, fans who weren’t there, have let their hatred of us and JB muddle their brains. Had we stayed on I’m sure we would have got an 8th goal. At that point Scunthorpe had gone and whether we were attacking down the left, the right or through the middle I’m sure with 5 minutes and 5 extra minutes we would have scored again. As you said bluegas, it meant we lost momentum, a bit of doubt and negativity crept in. It handicapped us, no one else. UTG!
