One thing that is different to our past successes is the amount of key loanee players we have had help us to success. It is something we have never really used to our advantage enough before, I remember DC in particular didn't like playing loanees too much. Gary Johnson and Yeovil were obviously successful doing it. I wonder if continue using this especially with Joey's contacts whether this is our best chance of pushing on even further. On another note will we see the likes of Connor Taylor, Connolly, Elliot Anderson, Luke Thomas again? And look what became of Yeovil. It is a short term thing but not something that you build a solid team around and means a merry go round of players each season. I understood it in the last season but we really do need to develop our own players

I understood it in the last season but we really do need to develop our own players As the Lincoln City director of football Jez George said in that article I posted: "Certainly at our level, it’s really hard for us to compete in League One against some of the huge clubs in the division with much bigger budgets than us without supplementing our group with some of those younger players."

Yeovil were never an established league side anyway so to get to the championship was dreamland for them. The reality of it is most of our young players won't be as good. If other clubs are doing it then we'll get left behind if we don't do it also. Be stupid as well not to utilise Joey's contact in the game.

I can only speak as i have seen but i will not get out of shape about it as both Cardiff and saints have places here. Seems like the snap up the youngsters before we have had a chance. Maybe another thing the club will go about changing, who knows

I Agree, I think all but Billy are possible. I have a suspicion that Connolly wouldn't be half the player without Connor Taylor. Might be completely wrong about that just a gut feeling. Don't agree ggmi re Connolly. Just watching him with the ball at his feet tells me all I need to know. Quite happy to bring the ball out and play a good pass and knows when row z required. I would be delighted if he signs and I'm sure Joey will be bringing in a quality replacement for Connor if he does stay at Stoke. Be very surprised if Stoke loan him out but can't see them doing that with another Championship team. Might as well keep him for themselves in the Championship. So a loan back to us is very possible I would think especially if Connor is happy here. What do we think now Bideford? Connolly is nowhere near as good without Taylor.

Can’t be assed to drag out some of your many previous quotes, that I disagreed with. Connolly has not been the same player since his back problem without any doubt. You seem to forget, he alone is far from being our problem.

Taylor was better with Connolly.
Or were both better with defensive coaching, which we seem to lack now.

It is very easy to try to claim you are right after the event. I would say Connelly has been a very mixed success this season. There have been games where he has been very good but also games where he has been very poor. I hav e to be honest and say I absolutely hate current day football where the goalkeeper continually gives the ball to a defender who is about two yards away- it is asking for trouble I actually thought the new centre haLF was very good yesterday and probably our best player apart from the last goal where he dived in. Our main problem is that we are too slow at attacking and our key passing is of a pretty poor level despite the fact that the figures they give out can be very misleading ie it is no good having a passing rate of 86% if the 14% failure is the final ball and that is our main problem.ie I imagine Gibbons has a very high percentage but the majority of his passes go back. Our main problem appears to me to b e lacking a talker on the pitch. We are great at talking to the referee but very poor at talking to ensure that we have both enough defenders and that they are marking players.
