Northampton have denied lodging a formal complaint and have said they would like discussion with the EFL about changing the rules going forward and have accepted what happened , congratulated rovers and are now focusing on winning the playoffs I'd love it if they got the rules changed and then it worked against them next season somehow

Changes going forward…. So the EFL get to pick the teams on specific final day fixtures😂🤦🏻

In order to placate Northampton Town the EFL have just announced that the previous rules regarding teams finishing on the same number of points have been abolished. Instead they have brought in backdated rules that when teams finish on the same number of points their head to head fixture results in that season will decide the outcome. Therefore the EFL can now announce that BRFC are promoted because they beat Northampton Town in both fixtures this season. The EFL hopes that everybody attached to Northampton Town are now satisfied with this outcome.
