Still £300k more than we will get for Evans True! Be very surprised if he doesn't sign. Though I guess if a Champ club comes in with a bigger wage he may not be able to say no. Yeah I cant blame Evans if he leaves. Although we have seemed to revived his career and you'd hope there would be some loyalty, he might prefer a move back up north anyway

Garner has done a good job at Swindon no doubt but for me he's probably one of the worst managers we've had in my lifetime since I started watching the Gas in the late 80's
I cant work out how I rate him but he's in the mix with
Dave Penney 2011-2011 Ian Atkins 2004–05 Martin Dobson Paul Buckle 2011–2012 Ray Graydon 2002–2004 Mark McGhee 2012
***Permanent Managers only

sh** for us so will always be sh** in my eyes. Even if he ends up managing in the prem. Ripped apart a successful gas team. I don’t care what anyone says about the sustainability of our form he took us from top of L1, got rid of players who’d put in a shift for us and replaced them with a bunch of wet lettuces with a style of play that was fanciful and without impact where it matters. To top it all off he manages Swindon - probably our biggest rival this season. I hope they get demolished by Port Vale and we never have to talk about him again. P.S some were revelling about him being above us in the league earlier in the season. That didn’t last. Let’s see where he is in two seasons time. 2 Seasons time? They don't go up he'll be sacked before June starts. Here’s hoping!

I actually wouldn’t mind Swindon getting up. It’s good to have local derbies in your league and already with Oxford, Cheltenham, fgr, Exeter, pompey, Plymouth I’d welcome Swindon instead of a northern team like Mansfield who would bring 1 coach load to the mem

I'd put Garner level with Dodson as they both tried to play football which was boring to watch, I'm not sure any manager will ever beat the toxic atmosphere Buckle managed to create.

McGhee had us scouting Europe's elite clubs for players. On paper very exciting in reality ridiculous.
I think your right Buckle is hard to beat, cast out Stu Campbell and cherry picked the best players from Torquay wonder how Zebroski would fare in todays squad?

Was it Buckle or McGhee or both that had Anyinsah leading the line for us with only one working hamstring! Stanley and Gill ahem, bossing midfield I do remember winning at Cheltenham around that time. Was a great away day amongst a pile of absolute dross. I think Zebroski even scored that day!

To be fair Garner has done well to recover from his travails at the Gas, really, really surprised.
I reckon that the momentum and the McTurdy factor may weigh in their favour, which is a shame, however local trip and treated like cattle by the good burgers of Wiltshire federali's.
Here's hoping DC does it purely based on love for him, not his club. (I know. he's gone get over it.)
Just hoping Northampton bomb, * 'em

A very, very, very poor-mans Gareth Ainsworth, he was all about the result, % football and forget the style of football. He inherited an awful team who had just escaped the drop and he recruited some excellent players who would go onto get promotion in 07 under PT. His trouble was he could start an argument in an empty room. And Dave Penny, well he was shafted by player power and no one at the top thinking clearly over that period of time. And if course we’ve had some great managers as well. UTG!

He was poor for us, but I agree with his approach to the game, and, with more experience, he is becoming a good manager. I hope DC wins, but I think Swindon will.

How many managers have we had who were headhunted in the same way as Edwards at Forest Green?

How many managers have we had who were headhunted in the same way as Edwards at Forest Green? Francis, DC and GC were all head hunted, why do all the old timers like to now put negative spin on anything Rovers related, you really need to get over Ken Masters and co being shown the door.

Coughlan the most immediate one that jumps to mind Funnily enough Coughlan and Tisdale are the bookies' favourites to replace Edwards at FGR Dale Vince seemed to rule out the usual suspects on the managerial merry-go-round and said they would go for a more left field choice similar to the last appointment.
