I don't think any of this current crop will want to leave this group. There seems to be something special here You can eat that quote when someone offers you double or triple wages tomorrow at work to do the same job at a “bigger” company Who will offer them 'Double' or 'Tripple' wages?
As I said before, possibly Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday or Derby.
Rotherham, Wigan, Wycombe don't seem to have this trouble by finishing above them or in and around them.

Cowley is under a bit of pressure at Pompey. A very under whelming season when he’s cleared some players out, Harrison, Marquis and the players he brought in haven’t set the league alight. Hurst not bad but Tyler Walker, a loan from Coventry was woeful when everyone thought he would be very good. He’s going to be linked with a few this season. Might even be wanting a reunion with Harry Anderson after their time at Lincoln and not Collins. We’ve got a fair few good attacking players who can carry a ball so we will get plenty of these stories this summer. UTG!
No idea on whether or not we're interested in Collins - but typically the names the local paper down here are linking us with this soon after the end of the season never come to pass.
I have to correct you on the 'pressure' on Cowley at this stage. Most accept he took over a really imbalanced situation last summer - with only 8/9 players under contract but those players taking up around two thirds of the playing budget.
He'll start getting critiqued more closely next season but there has been very little pressure from the support and even less from those running the club up to now.

How much are our players on?

Both Lee Brown & Ellis Harrison left Rovers for Portsmouth & Ipswich respectively a few years ago, Ellis is now playing in front of crowds of 3000 for Fleetwood & Browner is back in league 2 with AFC Wimbledon, the grass is not always greener on the other side. No, but do you know what contracts they both earned at those clubs? I don't but if it has secured their futures then it doesn't really matter what they are doing now.

I very much doubt they are on 'Double' or 'Tripple' ours.
After the promotion we've just had, with the obvious team spirit within this squad, I don't think players like Collins, Anthony Evans etc will want to leave, especially to a mid table League 1 team, who we should with our momentum, imo be looking to finish above next season.

I assume players get a promotion bonus/ increase in salary now? (they took a cut in salary after relegation). Would also be looking to offer better terms for extended contracts to the likes of Collins, Anderson and Finley Don’t they get something like a 20% increase in their wage packets for promotion, similar to the cut they get for relegation? We should wait and see how they perform at the higher level before handed out big pay rises . Some will make the grade and others won’t and it’s not always the ones you think will that do or don’t . Totally agree , I also think Wael should do our absolute best to keep the squad and staff together because the side that finished the season would be top half league 1. I realise that’s easier said than done but I’ve watched a fair bit of league 1 football this season and others as we all have and I honestly believe that we, our squad , our style is better than average for that league and we could push on again and challenge for top 6. I suppose it depends on how much we can spend , it’s easy to say keep them all but it’s not our money.

My point is that it is unlikely you know what our players are on. Therefore you cannot say that this or that club can or cannot afford to double+ their pay. I love your optimism, I really do but if you have been following football for any amount of time, you must know that loyalty etc is not a thing. Pompey would be attractive to most young players in our squad imo. It's funny that we think our players wouldn't leave to join a club in the same league, yet on the other hand we are quoting championship players who would fancy a step down to join us! Our odds to achieve anything next season will be pretty long I'd guess.

Loyalty might not be the reason, but there will be a big pull to play another season if the bulk of this very successful team is kept together under JB. Not all players are short term. Another successful season with the Gas in L1 and they could be "quadrupling" wages at a championship team and in the mean time continue to enjoy their football playing regularly (and no doubt for more money too). Nothing is that cut and dried. Personally think Collins will stay, as will Harry.

If we don’t have Billy and Evans next season I’m pretty confident that the likes of Harry, Thomas and Nicholson if he stays, will come more to the fore. There’s no doubt we would still need to replace Evans as we don’t have someone who can unlock a defence like he can, but losing a few first teamers wouldn’t necessarily be a disaster, I think, now the culture is in place.

Fair enough, and Pompey managers are usually under pressure if they finish mid-table League 1. I live down this way and know several Pompey fans and they are not big fans and that’s what I’ve been told so I’ll go with it! 👍 UTG!

Momentum is a great thing. It took city buying Snakey to really stop it for us. We were knocking on the doors of the play offs until that happened.
If we can keep most of the group together, make some shrewd additions then we have every chance of competing at the sharp end next year.

Portsmouth are much bigger than us and can pay more, they would need a decent offer but I think he's replaceable. In the past this sort of move has upset me but this time i'm kinda ok if it happens

In the past this sort of move has upset me but this time i'm kinda ok if it happens Pompey are currently riding a crest of a slump. With Joey in charge, Rovers are on the up, and we have a owner with a lot of dosh; imo the pendulum would move the other way if Joey chose to leave., however, if Joey stays, Wael would probably bump up AC's pay packet, along with a number of other key players.

Read an article today by the Portsmouth CEO aimed at their fans regarding bringing players in. Tells them they are willing to pay fees to get players in and boasts about a recent signing from Sunderland for £200k. If thats the sort of money they think will get them the likes of Collins they really are deluded.
