The mem site. You could take the Walsall stadium. Do away with the 2 tier home end and have a single tier stand. Replicate the walsall away end . Replicate one of the sides. Have a 2 tier with boxes main stand. Cantilever roofs instead of posts. Job done. Walsall holds 11,300. Mem would hold 15,000. Should have started it 15 years ago. Ahh so simple! 😉 perhaps something like this could be done, but these things are far more complex than you might think. Nonetheless I agree that we should have done "something" to increase our capacity in the last 20 years.

Luton have been very proactive in their plans for their new stadium. A few years ago the owners purchased two separate parcels of land. One near the town centre which thy intended building their new stadium on and another on the outskirts of the town for investment purposes. The sale of this land would go a long way to financing their new stadium on the site in the town. Things stalled due to the pandemic but planing permission had been granted for the new ground. At the end of last year planning was granted to the companies who intended to buy the land on the outskirts of Luton and the deal went through at the start of this year. Luton are now in the process of finalising detail plans for the stadium and at the present time they would be moving in 2025.

Watching Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Arbroath the other day I noticed they have a sticky outy stand just like our East Stand but where our terracing is, right along the length of the pitch, they have seats (uncovered). The Mem could look like that, I thought. And I know this topic has been aired before but I really enjoyed the buzz along a fair distance of the Gloucester Road v Scunthorpe. Hundreds of Gasheads, lots of eateries to choose from and Bristol Rovers making a real, and positive, pre-match impact. Businesses must have loved the footfall (and the football). If we move to The Fruit Bowl, it'll be like Wycombe where you end up in a dead end trading estate with little to catch the imagination - apart from the odd bit of thunder and lightning. Redevelop The Mem.

Having plans and actually financing and then building a new stadium are two separate issues, as we've shown in the past. I can't imagine Wael's content to write off £3m p.a. indefinitely plus spend a similar sum at The Quarters, without appreciating that he needs to deliver a new stadium at some point in the not too distant future.

"minor involvement" I'd have a thought a football stadium would be a pretty major part of the FM development.

My prediction, "we're looking at alternative sites" fans lap it up!

I've always believed the Mem site is fine, it's just needs a total rebuild and rotation of the pitch would certainly help

A lot of money will be lost in the new season due to lack of improvements, there’s not enough seats now we’re loosing the south stand, action needs to happen now not in five years time, can you imagine if we got promoted to championship, the new season will bring in quite a few sell outs, that means the club will be loosing more money

We have freed up the away terrace which for 50% of the time mean our supporters get rained on!

Don't think we would be allowed in the Championship with the current Mem as it falls miserably short on Minimum Disabled facilities ,Toilets and enough covered seated accommodation. Hope the lack of progress doesn't cause JB to become disenchanted.

We could have easily sold out the 12,300 capacity if it was available to us. In League One, we could potentially have a number of all ticket matches, many of which will be sold out. If we could sustain a playoff push, then the situation would be ridiculous. Which is good as it will bring the capacity issue to the front. I really hope that the club announces a plan soon, as they will be able too see exactly how much lost match day revenue we are losing. It is the logical next step, and with all the other improvements to the club recently, I am very confident we will hear an announcement soon. Just a hunch with zero facts… Wael and Gorringe are moving this club forward. Everything else has been amazing (training ground, refurbished offices, fanzone). Fingers crossed…
