So if Lee Brown is back fit, does he go back into the team and then replace Leadbitter with Lockyear, or do we keep the same starting 11?

No need to rush Browner back until he is 100%. It was a thigh strain that he is struggling with and with the cold weather it would be foolish to put him into action when not completely fighting fit. Lockyer is doing a decent job at left back, although his distribution is weak. Leadbitter gives us great pace down the right but his defensive capabilities seem limited.

Question is, should Mildy replace Puddy?

Question is, should Mildy replace Puddy? If it was for Torquay then a "yes", but if Puddy plays a couple of more games and doesn't make any errors then surely if would be harsh on him to be dropped? As far as Brown, personnally I'd keep him waiting, just to ensure he gives 110% when he does get his place back, although you fear leadbitter is always going to make a mistake so he might not have to wait long! Regardless this is clearly the benfit of a good squad something we haven't had for years?

I thought it was a really good tactical decision to take Gosling off yesterday, so Sinclair could shift over and keep their pacey left winger out of the game. He was their dangerman and was completely nullified by Sinclair when he was put out wide.

I think Mildy will be back for Woking personally, Puddy's a good keeper but Mildenhall is the type that wins you points. Essential for our run-in I feel.

Mildy is one of the best keepers in this league and has earned us many points this season. Puddy is a decent keeper and has better distribution but Mildy is a fantastic shot stopper, is better on crosses and commands his area better. He is key to our promotion push this season.

Funny how we see things differently as I don't think Mildy is better on crosses, he doesn't command his area and his distribution is awful.

He can't have won us anymore than we have in the last few games!! Woking is another 2 games away if Puddy keeps another 2 clean sheets, making 3 in total, I'd puddled off if I was him and was then dropped! Whilst on his day Mildenhall is a class act I'm not sure he was that outstanding prior to his injury.

NIce imbroglio though with so many more options and competition for places. Will be away for N Year but group of us going to Nuneaton.Loans will be interesting and don't expect Martin to stay or Speiss.Quality is improving all round and fringe players like Gosser and Leadbitter doing well.So important to have a quality bench which DC seems to use effectivly.

Gosling IMO is looking a really good player now and personally i think he is better with Leadbitter behind him and to be fair Leadbitters defensive display has also looked better in the last two games. On the other side I actually think Lockyer has done a better job defensively than Brown but more importantly has brought the best out of Monkhouse because Monkey knows that he doesn't have to keep covering whilst Browner overlaps. if Brown had been playing yesterday there is no way that Monkhouse would have made the run that created the second goal. So I would keep it the same for the game against Torquay and freshen up a bit if necessary at Nuneaton.

This thread is why going mad in transfer market could be a problem. We already have players competing for a place in a good team. Nice problem to have!

If Brown and Mildenhall are fit, they should be straight in, but I don't think we will see either for Torquay.

I have never rated Brown at all when others have done and for that reason I wouldn't have him back in even when he is fit - not yet anyway. We haven't exactly done badly without him so I wouldn't unfairly drop Leadbitter or Lockyer to accommodate his return. He is a very nice bloke and 100% committed to the cause but I don't see what the fuss is all about to be honest.

its just my opinion but i think brown and mildenhall are 2 of the best players in the league but im sure dc wont automatically put them back in if the team are still on fire when there fit.

DC said on Sunday Mildenhall was 1_2 weeks away from a comeback but inferred Puddy was in the side now and had the opportunity to cement his place as we would now have competition for the place.

We could have an interesting bench soon of Mildenhall, Brown, Trotman, Clarke & Goldberg with the likes of Harrison & Balanta sat in the stands, compare that to Macclesfield 3 players on the bench on Sunday!!

Whilst on his day Mildenhall is a class act I'm not sure he was that outstanding prior to his injury. No, but we were rarely threatened against Macc, same can be said for Spiess at Torquay. Take this example: Dover at home a few months ago, 1-0 up with five minutes to go. We've obviously sat back to defend and Puddy struggled to take command of any long balls into the area, which I thought Mildenhall would have dealt with. Instead of relieving the pressure, Dover came back at us again and nicked a goal in the last minute - bit of a goal mouth scramble if I recall. P.S. Don't think I've got anything against Puddy by the way, very good keeper and we're lucky to have him as cover. It's just that this team is on fire at the moment. We will struggle at points between now and April though, and keepers like Mildenhall secure a 1-0 win in situations like the above.
