Good for him, he deserves it after the season they've had. I'm a bit surprised they didn't wait until the play off final was out of the way though.

Great for him. It's such a shame that he ultimately lost it for a short period of time at Rovers and as a result lost his job. Maybe in years of old he would have had the chance to get through that bad patch off the back of what he had given the club previously. He's a really great guy and any club would be proud to have him as their manager. Hope to see him in league 1 next season.

Didn't he sign for 5 years with us?

Absolute madness to give any player or manager a 5 yr contract

Even Conte or Pep never got offered a five year deal. Clubs in league one or two last less than 12 months!

When he signed a long deal like that with us I think that's where it started going down hill

Length of contract isn't really that important.
However, the severance terms are. If, for instance, it may state they will only pay him 6 or 12 months pay if they sack him.
Its very unlikely the terms are if they sack him after 6 months they will continue to pay him for the next 4 and a half years.

It’s a humane gesture from compassionate owners who realise that job security is another stress factor which DC could do without at this moment. Being a manager is high pressure enough and it will allow him to concentrate on the football side of things as much as he is able to and with the knowledge that he has their full support. Decent people. 👏

At least outwardly is seems as if PV are tightly knit on the management side of things. Singing from the same hymn sheet etc. So it seems like a good idea, especially if there is a genuine 5 year plan which every club claims to have but few follow through. But these long term contracts don't work out all that often.
Still, good luck to DC and I hope they win tomorrow. Missed the away day this year so I'd like another chance.
