Sadly he didn't kick on last season. I'd have kept him on the cheap but we can get better imo. Funny how things change in a year. He did better for us in L1 - I'm thinking that L1 is a better league for a play like Sammy Or he just stood out because the rest of the team was total pants. Edit: to be clear I do actually like him and would have been pleased to see him stay - but I don't see him as a guaranteed starter and can totally see why he'd be best to move on.

I just think L1 is a better suited to a skilful play lie Nicholson - He was a little light weight for some of the thugs that play in L2 who just fouled him

I like Sammy, he's got a good touch and can beat a player. I think we played him in too many positions that didn't really suit him and he suffered a bit for that. If we are to play a similar formation next season?, I get the impression joey will want someone with more of an eye for goal, and maybe someone a bit stronger on the ball? Collins leading the line, Anderson on the right and a new signing on the left (if Sammy doesn't sign?). Would be pleased if he stays though.

Agree with this - SN is rather light weight but I do enjoy watching him in full flow and gives us options - Might only be a sub but depends on what we get in I guess

I'd be sad to see him go. Easily good enough in league 1. Was bit start stop last season with injuries playing a part. A fit Sam Nicholls I want in the team.

Given the choice i would prefer Sammy Nich in our squad rather than moving away. It didnt really fully click for him last season but the previous season he was a real ray of light that brought some joy in what was a struggle of a season. I think he is suited better to league one over league two for sure.

If the players decided he needs a change of club then there's not a lot we can do about it, alternatively if JB feels that he can bring in a better player there's not a lot we can do about that either but trust his judgement.

That read to me as if he was undecided and Belly was wishing him well in case he didnt return. The reality is that he will have been made offers elsewhere and he probably wanted to know what the Gas best deal is before deciding. Both JB and TG have been away so it is likely only this week that things can be decided.

Nowhere near negative enough, philli. Are you a beginner?

Good luck to him, personally I wouldn’t feel disappointed, maybe this is why we are hearing reports of McCormick? SN isn’t do badly but I think opinion has been elevated because he’s a bit of a fans favourite after his efforts the previous season. This season due to fitness, competition and in my opinion lack of end result/ final ball around the box, I think he has lost out.
Good luck to the bloke tho 👏

He's a likeable player but he's too injury prone and lacks the final ball! Which reminds me a bit like Lewis Haldane. Sammy was great in his first season with us but let's not forget that was a season with no fans so he may have felt more comfortable without the spectators in the ground? But since joeys hard work ethics he's not been able to stay fit so I'm not going to lose any sleep if he does leave us.

I haven't seen the card or comments but it seems a strange move to wish a teammate/work colleague well, just in case they don't return!

One of our best players and was our only decent player in the relegation season.
Would be a huge miss if we lost him, with a real risk EA not coming back sammy would be good replacement out wide.
Hopefully he can stay injury free.

Good move for him, remember watching interviews of him talking about his time in the MLS when he first moved. Clearly enjoyed playing over there.
All the best Sam, and thank you for the part you played in our promotion!
