You only live once and do the best for yourself, who can blame him.

He is certainly more replaceable now than I would have said he was after the relegation. Not sure what happened last season maybe he started to regret leaving the states, injuries played on his mind or just wasnt suited to L2 football. He didn't play badly at all though, just not as good as he was a level up.

He didn't play badly at all though, just not as good as he was a level up. He did appear to often miss the opportunity to either shoot or drive into the box. Instead taking an extra touch or two and passing sideways or rushing a shot often dragging it wide. To me it seemed he was lacking a little self belief last season. Which was a shame as he has great skills and a good shot on him.

Strange after such a good season before.

Just to echo what others have said, thanks for your time Sammy and best wishes for your next adventure.
Be sure to pass the good name of Bristol Rovers around the States.

Good luck to Sam. Regular flashes of brilliance in the relegation season - the goal against Wimbledon away was sublime - he could have kicked up a fuss about playing in L2, but rolled his sleeves up and made a contribution to the recovery and promotion.
I hope it goes well in the US and thank him for his contribution.

At times he reminded me of Billybob Bodin. Sadly he never delivered as much as the Welshman

Good luck... Now let's worry about a replacement and league one. I'm not gonna be sentimental Or…. don’t worry at all Mart as it gets us nowhere. I would bet that much is going on in the background, to replace, with better and more reliable

Perhaps his injury effected him more than we realised, as he's never seemed the same player following his hip op, you do have wonder if he's returned to the States as he's now finding his fitness an issue this side of the pond.

$340K(£280K) salary a season, where do the Yanks got all their money from, given football is hardly that popular in the States? Surprised is goal/assists states are no better in the MLS than they were at Rovers.

Sounds like a move back to the States was always an option. Good luck to him and I'm sure the majority of gasheads thank him for his contribution to our promotion season. What he lacked in finishing ability he made up for in determination and you always thought something positive could happen when he was on the ball. Mind you, if the article is to be believed, then he was on 'around $340,000' pa back in 2019! That's £5350 a week so don't feel too sorry for him.

A great player to watch, always a potential game changer. This season the knocks seem to have taken their toll on the consistency of his performances but he still played his part in achieving promotion. I accept that with better finishing his goal return would be in double figures but his work ethic was faultless.
Hard to compare the money in Colorado as not sure what the cost of living is there.
Certainly a player who most of us will wish well and be disappointed not to keep.
