A comic. Surely our new PR team could o better than a bloody comic. They have done well with other things. I hope to see something more in the near future To be fair, it does seem very popular and would be a nice memento. I like the comic idea but it looks a bit thin on content, though. I’d like something a bit more substantial with reports, stats and interviews. Maybe there’s room for both but if you wait too long you miss the moment and the business opportunity.

We should have learned this after the Grimsby final. The club made no shirts and so privateers made the money. Let’s hope we see something, very soon

Again to be fair, the shop had promotion merchandise on sale virtually the day after Scunthorpe.

P!ss poor organising as per. We must finish the season then start planning for next seasons kits. They should start the ball rolling after Xmas and get kits ready for the end of the season before. Seen kids already wearing city’s new strip no doubt ours is released after the season starts.

They are professionals but they maybe do not understand the timeframes and windows of opportunity.

Maybe if we all email Tom and Dave Bright to let them know what the fan base actually would like.
The media team must have the time and knowledge to produce a proper book and DVD?
If cost is an issue, maybe we could suggest a subscription, whereby say 100 people pay upfront, just to cover initial costs and when the costs are met, the club can go ahead and produce it.
I think Keith did the previous promotion books on his own, aside with a bit of help from Mike Jay and Haddrell etc, so with a much bigger media team surely they have ample time. I mean the photos and match stats and reports are already done, it just needs compiling and editing and for Dave Bright to sort out a few advertisers.
The end of season reveiw DVDs were usually being edited by Screen Soccer in March. Remember this was on top of their day jobs, so they fitted it all in, in their own time. Amazing really what a bit of passion and commitment and love of the Gas can lead to.
I think both a DVD and a proper book would be great sellers.
While the new professional regime do produce some good stuff, it is the same as all other clubs. I bet if you go to 75% of clubs shop websites, they will have a few historic kit design mugs, cushions etc.
I think the comic is a good idea as it is for the young kids who are new to supporting the club. If it works, maybe they could incorporate a similar Roy of The Rovers comic strip review of the previous match in the programme. Would be something new and may help to get the young kids into buying programmes?
On merchandise, it would good to see some uniquely Gas, Black Arab, Pirate etc designs.
Personally, I really like the crossed swords stuff rather than macron or the terrace.

Literacy and reading is a problem for boys and anything that gets them reading something other than a screen should be applauded. It is a massive well done from me.

We have custom designs made by Macron for our kits, not just standard Adidas/Nike/Puma templates like a lot of clubs. This is another reason why our kits take longer to produce than other clubs.

It’s very difficult to know as the various platforms have made many lazy and many will not actually read something in it’s entirety as their attention span is just so poor. We seem to live in a sound bite society nowadays. Personally i am hoping there will be a DVD or a download available of that final game. It doesn’t really matter what i think anyway as the club will do as they see fit. We could write all day and nought would come of it. Graphic novel eh, isn’t it something like 8-9 pages ?

I think the comic is very underwhelming tbh. Especially for just a few quid less than the excellent Keith Brookman promotion review books. Like has been mentioned before its market seems to be for youngsters with little attention span, but the pictures are poor and the paper pongs. If you were to show your grandkids a picture of you celebrating promotion on the pitch after D&R from the Brookman book, the pictures are so clear and sharp you can easily identify yourself. On the comic, even Belly's wife would have to be told who it is meant to be in the special centrepage poster. I am sure there is a market for a comic and a proper book. I guess one is easier to produce and cheaper so more cost effective - although the proper book would just be a case of compiling the photos, stats and quotes the media team already have.

The comic is a collectable. Collectables are rip offs by nature.

I could not agree with you more but it seems that if you write such posts then you leave yourself open to be labelled as negative. I have already encountered the if you are not with us then you are against us type and in a local cafe of all places. I try to avoid the drama if honest but i do find it disconcerting. I treasure my screen soccer videos and the “shouty Bristolians” commentating but then, i am not one bit embarrassed of my accent and i am proud to have been born in this fine port city. There is still time to hopefully see more come out but i now doubt we will see more. I can’t really comment of the comic as i have only seen photos and what came to mind was a Roy of the Rovers type of thing. Give me shouty Bristolians over this, all day. Surely, there must be video of the game wishing the clubs archives, no ?

The comic is a collectable. Collectables are rip offs by nature. Absolutely. I remember my middle brother going into an apoplectic rage when mum burned a load of his circa 1960’s to early 70’s marvel comics. It was only then that i understood some were worth a few quid.

BUT don’t you think that enough time has passed now that the entire process could be in motion a fair but earlier as i believe this is our 3rd season with Macron now. You are right about the template being a more difficult to produce item but once processed, it is not that much work to place that design into the printing process. I don’t know why there is any reason why the entire thing could not be put into place, earlier. I am sure that fans would be most likely to vote, when during the season too. Seems i am in a very small minority that would like to see a solid blue strip, with white trim, brought in as one of the strips, even if a small and exclusive run, as a tribute to our past. It is the off season though and we don’t really have much else to talk about so i imagine this will hit top page by the time we are close to our first league 1 match
