Hoping we can sign at least one of Chalk and Cheese (which is the good one?) 🤣 Cheese is maturing nicely but for Chalk the writing’s on the wall. Think we need to go Caerphilly with the cheese signing .

Personally I think it would of been better if like the old days when they opened the club shop so fans could buy the new shirts etc & a bar open so people could get a drink, rather than a last minute put together funday. The shop was open and rammed with everyone buying the new shirts. Must have made a lot of money which is good. The fact it was advertised as a fun day and had 1 activity for kids or anyone for that matter to do was extremely disappointing in my opinion. It should have been advertised as an open training session. It certainly sounds as the focus was on sales, and not much else - a shame for those who took their kids along, expecting a bit more. Were the players available for authographs afterwards?

Yes tilly about 8 of the players stayed behind and went up the along the whole terrace to sign the kids autographs which made their day 🙌. To be honest youv hit the nail on the head their. It felt exactly like the day was done as cheap as possible to make the club the most money. Don’t fall out with the club needing to make money but come on 1 pathetic activity in the whole footprint of the ground for a advertised fun day really? How much would it have cost to have a few stalls bouncy castles and a bit of music? We need to attract as many of the kids that we’re coming last season as possible. I brought a mate and his boy along and had to apologise as I said I thought there would be a lot more for his boy to do.

Going by some of the comments made then i am glad i was meant to take the mrs to her first experience of Rovers and i said there were be stalls and music. Glad i wasn’t able to make it as i’d like her first experience to be better than this

More of an open day than a fun day by sounds of it.
Anyway, 7 days now, next weekend will be a totally different kettle...

Concerned about the injuries.
If they're not fit for next week we'll probably be without Kilgour, Anderton, Clarke, Grant, Coutts (suspended), Rossiter and Anderson.
JB has said he'd like to bring in 5, 6 or 7 new players and we also have 7 first team squad members that might not be available for the first game.
Not ideal.

He's following an individual training programme, so was doing that today.

Definitely was more open day than fun day vibes. Still enjoyed myself and got myself a new shirt.
Also took my 2 year old to their first football related event which went well.
Game was also interesting to watch. Although I think Evans left his shooting boots at home 🙃

From past experience of Rovers open days why was anybody expecting anything other than an open training session and the club trying to sell replica shirts?

I was tempted to drive down from Bournemouth and make a day of it with my lad By all accounts glad I didn’t Maybe one for the commercial team to work on. A missed opportunity by the sounds of it.

Could have been worse. It could have been the Phoenix Nights family funday, with the inflatable.

Not sure a band playing and a few stalls selling food etc would make it worthwhile if seeing a few scale training match and the new kit wasn't enough. I guess next season when we put on a band and have stalls fans will then be complaining if they're asked to pay a fiver!

From memory, in the DC days, it was a fun day. More things for the kids to get involved in (bouncy castle, fairground ride etc), free face painting, players spread around in different bars etc, so that the kids could go round collecting autographs and getting their shirts signed and have photos taken. Fine if they didn't want to go down this route, however, I think that they should have marketed it as an open training session, with the opportunity to go the shop for merchandise.

Struggling to figure out what kind of back four we could even scrabble together for next weekend if Kilgour, Gibbons, Clarke & Grant are out! And if Rossiter’s out then we’re pretty much down to our last three, fit senior CMs of Evans-Finley-Westbrooke. Need some signings.

Was Gibbons injured today ? If he is then today should be classified as one huge disaster.!! He and TC are musts to be available for next week.
Trevor Clarke hopefully will play … He is a battler and wont want to miss any games. Kilgour and Grant are out for a few weeks yet.
That we are even discussing Westbrooke as a possibility to play shows we have messed up recruitment … and no I don’t mean panic buying is fine but neither is writing off the first four / five games whilst the transfer window closes and we keep waiting for things out of our control to fall our way.
We are undercooked as things stand with little time now to put things right before next Saturday.

I think that's just this thread title and people thinking back to previous years? Don't get me wrong, I think we could have done a lot more but it was no more or no less than the club advertised it to be.
