My first pitch invasion was versus Southampton FA Cup 1978. For those who complain it can damage the pitch - look at the state of Eastville BEFORE we invaded!
That is one situation where a pitch invasion would have probably improved the surface, all the feet leveling out the bumps. I know it is the wrong thread but always thought a good place for a new stadium would be that plot of land below the m32 knock down those cheap looking buildings including Ikea and Tesco and flatten the site build a new state of the art stadium and call it Eastville Stadium home of the Gas what an improvement to Bristol that would be.

But the first invasion happened before the game ended we were not promoted at that time and the Scunthorpe goalie was assaulted, it is the host clubs responsibility to ensure players are protected and safe, we failed to do that because some brainless morons ran on the pitch, so now IF we have to play our first game behind close doors everyone will suffer. I bet your the life and soul of the party! Loads of clubs pitch invaded and one idiot always spoils it granted. It’s happens I’m not saying it’s right in any way but let’s be real it will just be a slap on the wrist fine. I have to say I’m with Werton on this. When the full time whistle goes it’s fair game, but not before that. When we scored against Dagenham only about 5 people ran on the pitch and there were more people there on that day too. I just don’t get the need to invade the pitch to celebrate when the game still has minutes to play and anything can happen.

I think we play a defensive bat and say it was a unique situation that no other club in history has had to face - Winning 7-0 to secure promotion was a very difficult experience we apologise and wont do it again Or we could be honest and say; Too much taunton cider inside a few moronic fans. A situation not helped by the boys in blue sat in their vans outside the ground who took an age to respond. Not sure the club should can say we "won't do it again" as it wasn't club officials on the pitch, all the club can do is say the situation was so unique it was impossible to predict hence why they didn't have sufficient stewards/police on duty to try and stop it from happening, but in future they will try and ensure they do have sufficient on duty.

A good hearted well behaved celebration of fans players and management on the pitch at the end of the season, I have no problem with.
I maybe wrong but seemed to be ok after Lee Browns goal.
However we are in different times, and physical abuse to players staff stewards and other fans is totally unacceptable.
This is why as a result of a few complete Neanderthals, pitch invasions will become just that, a thing of the past.
You can’t blame a few beers because that’s been around for years. I can’t help thinking that the rise in the white powder stuff that is being reported since lockdown, has a lot to do with it.
Don’t partake myself, and it’s up to you if you do. Just don’t go to a football match, problem solved.

The club have till today to respond. It would be no surprise if we admit the charge and take the fine.
However, what would those fans prefer who invaded after Billy's goal, a) their moment on the pitch costing the club money or b) that money being invested in the squad for this season instead?
After all the work we have seen around the ground by the commercial team to increase revenue flows, to up the annual turnover and the % we can spend within FFP, this is a kick in the teeth. 2 steps forward and 1 step back.
Anyone who complains about any lack of investment over the coming season who went on the pitch can take a long hard look.

Simple _ If you went on the pitch you are mislead
Second - If you think it's acceptable under any number of unique circumstances you are mistaken
Thirdly - you should a long hard look at yourself
Finally, if you postured against opposition fans or approached opposition players you are officially a .
Keep off the pitch during official playing time, problem solved.
Celebrate all you want after the event, beforehand has possibly cost a fine.

Sorry for the boom but.... I think Port Vale have been pulled up for their invasion v Swindon and now Manchester City have. It’s good to see some consistency being applied as I think as with us they have all been accused of a breach of the same rule. And it’s good to see this not being swept under the carpet now that the new season has started. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62591035UTG!

Don't know why anyone is defending it, and those who say it happened in the past and no-one complained then........so what? That is history, this is now. And I'm talking about pitch invasions during play, not celebrating a promotion.

And I'm talking about pitch invasions during play, not celebrating a promotion. Yes, I think we were the only ones with an invasion during the 90 minutes, the others were after the conclusion. And of course at Port Vale there was also violence which makes a difference. Imo. So whilst I’m hoping for some consistency and that they get fined as well it may be that they get off because it was after it was finished. Whatever whatever we got fined if Man City were to be fined the same amount their CEO would probably pay it with the loose change in his pocket! 😢 UTG!

The Crawley owner filmed himself invading the pitch after beating Fulham and put the footage on social media. Unbelievable but true.
