Never got a lot of game time last year and wonder how he will be used this year ? He was more of an impact sub last season but no doubting he has ability. What are thoughts on how he will fit in to the new Rovers team this season ?

Think he will have to be patient especially if rumoured signings materialise, has potential ,trouble is strikers more than anyone need game time and playing the odd game or minutes here and there does nothing to help build understanding with your team mates. It could be argued that the training ground is the place to build up that kind of relationship and i am sure it is worked on, i wish him well it can only be good for Rovers if he fulfils the promise he has fleetingly shown.

I think Loft will surprise us this year if I'm honest, he will have a proper full pre season and be as fit as the rest of them.

Think he’ll definitely start the season as an impact sub but who knows what could happen after that - it’s a long old season with injuries, fluctuations in form etc. The new five subs rule should help Lofty in terms of the opportunities he’ll get off the bench, I’d have thought.
He’ll be as fit and sharp as he’s ever been after a full JB pre-season so will be interesting to see what impact he can have in L1.

Looking forward to seeing him hopefully for a full season, just hoping he isn't going to be injury prone and we have to somehow manage and insulate him.

I thought some esteemed forum member on here was told by loft he was leaving at the end of the season as wanted to play up north and so wouldn’t be fulfilling his contract The silence is deafening

For your information,I never said he would be leaving at the end of the season. I still stand by what I was told by the man himself. I did say watch and wait, that is still the case.

Lofty to come to the party this season; the way he waited and slotted his goal at Port Vale showed he knows how to score goals.

Not all these signings can come off for Joey. Ryan struggled in L2 so can't see him being too much of a success in L1. Think we will be looking to move him on by this time next year. Time will tell.

Not sure "struggled in L2" is fair personally. He barely got a look in and clearly lacked fitness. Obviously entirely possible he will "flop" so to speak, but I think it's far too early to make that call just now. His finish against Vale wouldn't have been out of place in the Premier League.

Personally I think Joey will be looking for 2 new strikers
I’m still not sure about Saunders, was he a striker or wide man? I can see both moving on if honest, it seems to me that the gaffer is always looking to add players with added calibre.
Hope to be proven wrong but I don’t see either player as top league 1 players

Not like you to sit on the fence. Maybe learning from past errors?

Surely the reason he never got a look in was due to other strikers being seen as better options, including Leon Clarke? If Lofty doesn't have a good pre-season I can see him moving on, assuming he hasn't already decided to move on.

Have to say I was disappointed with Ryan which maybe not entirely his fault, but as the season progressed it became more obvious that he was not the right fit for this Rovers side. Maybe with a close season to work on him Joey can make a decent forward of him. If not I don't think he'll be here long.
