With respect, can we avoid some o th doomsday posts , I think Nick needs positive thoughts an support. He’s obviously a fighter an can fight this. 💪🏼 To be fair to KP he has faced the same cancer first hand with his sister, not just done a Google search and picked out the gloomiest prognosis.

Thank you, it was nothing near a doomsday post. If some wish to avoid the reality then i can’t help that. I prayed for him today and it’s the best i can do. It was my sister in law but she was an incredible woman and i miss her.

Could/Would the FSC look to sponsor Nick for the SCs awarding a player a cap idea?
Would be good publicity to try and get more people on the forum and then getting them to subscribe to sponsoring other Rovers related things?

I know this is early days but I think that maybe some people on here could start a fundraising scheme to help him in the future it can be a long term thing and difficult to organise as I know too well but with the right people at the helm a goodly amount can be raised to stop h worrying about his and his family's future and allow him to concentrate on beating this awful disease

Surely the club can earmark a home game collection for him. Quite sure a bucket collection for him would go down well with the fanbase and sure the club would be prepared to match the amount raised.

Good shout… Genuine point here, and not wanting to open up old wounds for debates, but this would require card readers too in order to maximise donations. I don’t take cash to games but would 100% want to donate!

Great idea. Be very happy to add to any collection for Nick. Could be crowdfunded I suppose but there would be fees which diminishes the total. If the club were willing to support the idea I imagine it would be well received.

Could they possibly consider donating any profit from people choosing an “Anderton 16” shirt too? Would be a great show of support for him seeing the shirts around, and also make him a little bit? Also would be worth them getting another batch of “the lamppost” prints done, and selling them in the club shop again for £16.16

The former players association do a lot of work for ex players who need medical assistance that sometimes goes under the radar.
I would expect that they will shortly arrange another social event with the monies going towards supporting Nick or perhaps an ex player or dependants who may also be in need.
Unfortunately, I can imagine that a lot of players pre the maximum wage may find things very tough this winter.

Have had a reply from Tom Gorringe about a possible bucket collection for Nick. He likes the idea, although not certain about whether a bucket collection has to be linked to a registered charity. He has passed my email onto Dave Bright to look into this.

A picture of him in hospital on Joe Lumley's story. Just trying to work out how their paths would have crossed? 🤔

Given up on it Tilly. Dave reporting on a full bucket at the Supporters Club hut. Just shows me what a stadium wide collection could achieve far in excess of that one bucket I would suggest. You only have to hear the applause etc at 16 minutes every game to know what the fanbase think of Nick. I offered to get a group together on here to rattle buckets for a couple of hours on a matchday and have been ignored, seems very odd the SC could not have done better than a solitary bucket.

I offered to get a group together on here to rattle buckets for a couple of hours on a matchday and have been ignored, seems very odd the SC could not have done better than a solitary bucket. I am not on the SC committee, but I read Steve's post and used my initiative to bring a bucket put a label on it and mention it to anyone wishing to buy programmes or 50/50s. I am sure anyone else could have stood next to a programme seller and done the same. You may have read my previous posts that the SC are actually short of sellers and this has an impact on 50/50 sales. Any volunteers are gladly welcome. Be warned you are only likely to get criticism for not doing more though. Sometimes, I think that people think the SC get paid. They don't. They are volunteers who probably work a 40 hour week like everyone else, have family commitments, illness etc but still "work" for a couple of hours each home game, in all weathers and generally miss the first 5-10 minutes of the match to boot. If anyone has the time to help, please see Jamie at the SC shop before or after a game. He might be a bit busy before kick off as he has to organise quite a bit! I agree he bucket collection did seem a bit last minute and could have been better communicated. I also agree with Tilly, it should have been properly organised by the FC as has always been the case previously. I suppose it was better the SC volunteers had 3-4 buckets (SC shop/clubhouse bar/Community Trust sales point) than none at all. With the cashless stadium there were plenty of people who said they would have contributed but had no cash. At least Dave Thomas has put things in his programme article and on the SC website to try and promote it. Anyone reading this can look at previous links on how to make on line donations if they missed out yesterday.
