I bought my 50-50 tickets from the good man with the collection bucket for Nick. Fair play to him.
When I left home for the Mem I deliberately did'nt take any cash because Rovers don't use it anymore,do we?
So,if the collection for Nick is to grow or become regular for a while, maybe a reminder from the club,or a fans forums reminder ,to bring some cash if you would like yo donate.
Maybe an account could be set up,so we could donate using our bank cards?
We could donate online too perhaps.

Given up on it Tilly. Dave reporting on a full bucket at the Supporters Club hut. Just shows me what a stadium wide collection could achieve far in excess of that one bucket I would suggest. You only have to hear the applause etc at 16 minutes every game to know what the fanbase think of Nick. I offered to get a group together on here to rattle buckets for a couple of hours on a matchday and have been ignored, seems very odd the SC could not have done better than a solitary bucket. I am not on the SC committee, but I read Steve's post and used my initiative to bring a bucket put a label on it and mention it to anyone wishing to buy programmes or 50/50s. I am sure anyone else could have stood next to a programme seller and done the same. You may have read my previous posts that the SC are actually short of sellers and this has an impact on 50/50 sales. Any volunteers are gladly welcome. Be warned you are only likely to get criticism for not doing more though. Sometimes, I think that people think the SC get paid. They don't. They are volunteers who probably work a 40 hour week like everyone else, have family commitments, illness etc but still "work" for a couple of hours each home game, in all weathers and generally miss the first 5-10 minutes of the match to boot. If anyone has the time to help, please see Jamie at the SC shop before or after a game. He might be a bit busy before kick off as he has to organise quite a bit! I agree he bucket collection did seem a bit last minute and could have been better communicated. I also agree with Tilly, it should have been properly organised by the FC as has always been the case previously. I suppose it was better the SC volunteers had 3-4 buckets (SC shop/clubhouse bar/Community Trust sales point) than none at all. With the cashless stadium there were plenty of people who said they would have contributed but had no cash. At least Dave Thomas has put things in his programme article and on the SC website to try and promote it. Anyone reading this can look at previous links on how to make on line donations if they missed out yesterday. Dave, I appreciate everything you do so no criticism of you from me. I'm just very disappointed that the club (Dave Bright), as he was asked to do did not get back to me. As I have said I offered to get volunteers from this forum and I know for certain several members of the ffsc would have helped. It would appear it ended up last minute at the SC and they did their best, but obviously realise they have other things going on, on matchdays. Tom Gorringe was of the opinion that bucket collections had to be for registered charities, what happened yesterday would put that theory to bed. Glad monies were raised, but far more could have been done on a stadium wide basis. It's very sad when a fans director is wandering around in the fan zone and back of west stand etc and isn't even bothering to carry a bucket with him to help out. I think I will refrain from suggesting anything in the future, the club and SC obviously think they know better how to organise such events. A last minute post on here on Friday by the fans director about a bucket in the SC hut was hardly advertising a bucket collection for Nick I would suggest.

Perhaps a coin bin in the club shop would help .

Perhaps a coin bin in the club shop would help . I have been told the club have no facility to accept cash so card is the only option. As a hopefully devil's advocate suggestion maybe anyone wishing to help Nick (or the SC/FC) should speak to the SC - I can see they have actively asked for help. Then things can be talked through face to face. My third party understanding of yesterday was that if the SC did not do a last minute bucket collection, no collection would have been done. We all wish the best for Nick and perhaps with the "were all in it together" Twerton and Sharescheme mindset we can achieve more together. As an alternative, the SC have provide on line details to contribute to Nick.

Why did the Supporters Club have to step in at the last minute and who was intending to do the collection in the first place?

I Tweeted Mr Bright, and he responded quite quickly - fair play on a Sunday afternoon!
"Is it possible to do a bucket collection for Nick? The SC had a bucket in the cabin, but I know they are stretched for volunteers. I believe somebody emailed you about this, and has volunteer collectors sorted. A bucket at every turnstile would increase funds"
Response:
"Hi all, the SC did something to help get more money for Nick’s cap as part of their scheme… We are having conversations all the time about what we do as a club, and as I said to the gent that emailed me, when we do it, we want to have most impact we can to raise the most money."

My email was passed on by TG to DB and he has not responded. The Plymouth game is clearly the biggest opportunity. The green army would undoubtedly boost the kitty for such a good cause and no doubt a full house at the Mem. Just checked my Rovers email folder and only the response from TG there.

I thought that was the case, you're obviously on his mind - ha ha! I hope that they come up with something simple, and people aren't restricted from participating due to cost.

Hi All,
A huge thanks to everyone who donated on Saturday - we raised the sum of £408.13 which will be added to those donations already made by bank credit. I would like to remind you that this is a Fans initiative that allows the Fans to provide their own measure of support for Nick and to show him that we are all a part of the Gas Family.
We will be running a similar collection at the Plymouth game (hopefully with more collection points this time). Please see the Supporters Club website for more details.
Again - a huge thanks.

Perhaps if the worst comes to it perhaps some forum messages could organise a testimonial for him.takes a lot of organising as I found out with haldanes testimonial but with a lot of people doing it then a good sum can be raised.lewis got about 7000 from a bucket collection.raffle and a game. Imagine how much could br raised if the spirit is willing on here
