What sort of fees were Mick Cannon and Alan Ball traded for before joining the gas? The comedy duo? Edit:- on that note were there any 'double acts' in teams, not necessarily comedy duo's. Did Rickie Lambert ever line up with Butler?

He knows the manager, he has played for different sides at different levels (including U17/18/20 International level)....
...it's a loan so there is minimal risk if there are short or long-term injuries but I prefer to look at the positives - what's not to like?
Welcome to Rovers! Play well for 30+ games this season and make a name for yourself with us!

A bit of a risk given his recent injury record but if he stays fit he should be a decent signing. Reading the comments from Sheff Wed fans above, it sounds like he's a left sided defender, so Connolly might switch to the right.Ooh don’t like the sound of that, hope Connolly is left alone, very good in the position he’s used to and if this new guy plays try him on the right side of a central pairing maybe. Will he be fit to start though ie full pre season?

‘Other clubs fans say it, so must be true’ Just another day on GasChat😂😂😂😂 Well they were right about Gibbons and Rossiter who lasted 2 games and 1 game respectively. Its different to other fans telling you someone is a rubbish player etc which is subjective, whereas injuries are fact. Same as if someone signed Grant or Rodman, we would say they are made of glass etc as both are usually injured.

Stress fracture to a foot doesn’t exactly register on the sick note checklist, like a calf, hamstring or quad injury. Its very rare you’d ever do it more than once.

Sheff Weds Fan "Good luck to him, good player, made of weetabix" Looks like another who will be troubling the physio more than the opposition. Or he could be a very good signing. Come on lmw, you and I know that if we took notice of what opposition fans said about injury or past performance we wouldn’t have signed McCormick (after his poor year at Shrewsbury), JCH (after what Coventry fans said) or Billy B (after his injury woes). I’m sure there are others. All players who come to us have to start with a clean sheet and I trust that JB has done his homework over this one. Welcome to the gas Lewis, give 100%, always do your best, show some commitment and the fans will love you. I said yesterday about Alfie Mawson going to Wycombe that he’d played in the Championship so to get that sort of signing was a pretty good. Let’s hope that Lewis Gibson turns out to be a good signing as well. No guarantees with transfers, just keep our fingers crossed and time will tell. UTG!

In his interview Joey has already suggested this - plus the flexibility to have a back 3 (Gibson-Connelly-Hoole), so expect that to be the case unless a fit RCB comes in next

However, If you mean Mel Gibson, well he absolutely hates the British and is a huge anti-Semite and swivel-eyed loon to boot. I’d rather he took after Guy Gibson, leader of 617 Squadron (Dambusters) . . .

I get what you are saying Wareham and i agree taking a risk on one or two is fine, but with a small squad we are adding players with poor fitness records to a team which already has its fair share of sicknotes. You can never predict injuries of course but some players seem to pick up injuries more than others and are therefore in my eyes a greater risk. We saw how relying on L.Clarke and Pitman last year turned into a disaster. You almost have to sign another player to cover them! I just dont want to see Joey standing their after a defeat moaning about injuries when almost all his summer signings have been regular crocks.

I think Gibson at £6m would be highest if it is true. The highest fee paid for Whelan according to Wikipedia (yes, I know...) was £1m when he went from Stoke to Villa. Players like Riordan, Lawrence and Leon Clarke all moved around for 6 figure fees before joining us but I can't think of any others who had previously gone for over £1m. Definitely the highest. Mark Walters is the only one I can think of that was probably around the £3M mark if that. The closest would be Joey himself when he left Man City for Newcastle I think that was about £6M I thought of wally Walters but checked and wiki says £1.25m to Liverpool
