I was there, 4-1 pal, Roberts with a late consolation! Remember goin there thinkin we’d trump em! 😂 We had big Dave Lee as a debutant? I was there! Most of their fans were big, ugly lumps, with the look of a serial killer about them. Me too. Buzzing after making the 5th round, confident of an upset with our strikers and then suffered the long journey home after the team didn't turn up. Dave Lee was crap and we were torn apart by a very lively Craig Hignett on the day. The only positive was that I didn't try the pork pies...

Love Joey positivity...I don't see why we can't have another go this season and be in the mix.

Remember stumbling across a local workmens type club and thought I’d pop in for a quick bevvy with a mate ….. we were politely told we wouldn’t be welcome in a broad Yorkshire accent by a nice group of blokes

Remember that 5th Round game v Barnsley very well.
They had just came back down from the Premier League that year, Craig Hignett and Bruce Dyer ripped us to shreds that day. Scott Jones also played, ended up signing for us 18 months later and was absolutely sh**e.
Another very young Rovers side with Stephane Leoni, Steve Foster, Mike Trought, Trevor Challis, Rob Trees, Jamie Shore, Roberts & Cureton all in their early 20's or younger.
Also just shows how times have completely changed in Football even since then. Rovers would never be able to sign a 28 year old from Chelsea who had played over 150 games for them, like David Lee these days. He'd be on at least 80k a week!!

If we had the infrastructure in place (or plans for it progressing) this kind of talk would be mildly credible, otherwise it's embarrassing and cringeworthy

He didn't say it would happen like Johnson did. It is not a pledge, it an ambition, a dream. As the great Captain Sensible said You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true? If we play Ipswich or Sheff Wed away don't you dream or have some hope we can win? There isn't much point if we, the management and players went to those places thinking we are cannon fodder. If GC managed it at Ipswich with a group of under 19s on the bench, I am sure Joey believes.

Love Joey positivity...I don't see why we can't have another go this season and be in the mix. Utg. Absolutely. What I love about Joe is at start of season he calmed expectations by talking about getting enough points to avoid relegation. Lots thought we could consolidate and end up mid table. I’m sure this bunch of winners in our dressing room are aiming much higher. This is a period in Rovers history that we will not be forgotten. You are right his positivity is running off on all of us. This team will give it a go, for sure.

They will think they can win anywhere, and why not.

I did know that as Mr Burns said he ran out of songs for his LP and as he was at his parents house, just went through their collection to find a filler! I believe it went to no 1?

Would’nt be surprised if we do get beat up there to be honest. But in the long run I’m confident he’ll keep us up, perhaps even a top half finish, might be pushing it but you never know. Remember going there for a 4th (?) round FA cup tie and getting spanked 4-0 I think 🤔 I thought it was 5th round and Craig Hignett came on as sub and tore as a new arse in the same way Steve Mcmanaman did at Anfield against us in the same competition in 92.

Had to spend the whole game wandering, after getting on the minibus a mate said you know I said I would get the tickets? Yes I replied, well I sort of did but they were photocopied on my old mans photocopier, not the best of starts but got in and of course someone was already sat in the seat printed on the ticket I had paid for, so it was 90 minutes of cat and mouse with the stewards!

I see Elon Musk tweeted about buying Man. Utd before admitting it was just a joke. But given Joey’s ‘shooting for the moon’ comments, perhaps he knows that Elon really is about to buy an English club? Just saying.

Nowt wrong with having ambition and dreams, just need the conviction to make it happen. Without getting to deep i have read and still read a lot of Roman history stuff and it always amazes me how they never saw 'problems' just solutions and whatever the challenge they invariably overcame them. i popped into the shop at THE Mem yesterday and seeing the car park 99.9% empty highlighted just how big the site is. I am convinced it is big enough to construct a decent sized stadium to be proud of and yes i am aware of the obstacles to overcome but am also convinced that they could all be beaten, there are many clever ,imaginative brains out there who i am sure could come up with the goods , Wael and co and fans just have to believe , joe Barton does , the rest of us should to, up the Rovers !

I’m all for a stadium rebuild
Proper ground, nothing fancy, 22,000 capacity, safe standing.
As it’s razed to the ground we can ground share at Bath again
I can dig out my old shell suit and see if me old mate Nick can get us there in his Cortina MK II
We can all laugh again at the toilets and think back to how life ‘wasn’t so bad’ back at the Mem
Once we smash the league again, we can return ‘home’ to our new gaff ready for championship footie

Love Joeys enthusiasm ... I really do.
Love the passion and words and it is great to 'Shoot for the Moon' -
However, unless better quality is added in the next thirteen days, we can aim where we like, but like Tuesday we will smash into the side of the Garden shed again and again.
