Give him 20 lashes and send down the coal mine for a 14 hour shift , that should teach him right from wrong 😱 Oh while you’re at it send that fecking ref from yesterday with him! I’m at the point of disowning him, he actually asked me to take him to Ashton Gate last week, I’ve lied to him (bad Dad) he’s coming to The Mem Saturday thinking he’s going to see them 🤣 If that doesn’t work I’ve failed as a Dad…… There was a young lad sitting near me today, who spent the whole match reading a paperback book - obviously making the point that he didn't want to be there. Was this your boy?

He’d be launching the book at me. Punishment for his bad behaviour this week is a trip to watch Morecambe next week. Dad will win this war!

Throughout the duration of today’s game I had to listen to some fools behind me constantly rabble on about the man city and liverpool scores. Even the ones that support their local are bloody obsessed with the big teams. It is so strange to me.

My misses a red said I should take him to Anfield but that was a point I had to draw the line. As a parent I feel that I have failed him but I cant turn back the clock. He use to play for a few teams growing up and I said to him that if he ever played for Liverpool I would go and watch him but if he played for Everton I would want him to win aswell.

I think it depends on influence. Bradley Stoke born and bred, grew up a Gas season ticket holder through Trollope and DC eras (bar three years at uni 14-17 - missed the worst and then best parts!) but my dad is a HUGE Manchester United fan and that influence also rubbed off on me (helped by beginning to 'get into' and 'understand' football in 1999).
I am a Bristol Rovers and Manchester United fan - don't regret either decision. Of course I could've been rightly considered a glory fan in the noughties but I don't care - it's what I was grown up with in a Manchester United household. I also attend Bath games due to my father-in-law, used to watch Southampton when at uni and have a rather big soft spot for Rangers as my childhood best mate is a Ger. Again, it's all influence.
I also like basketball and support Lakers because I adored the late Kobe Bryant - sufficed to say, I've never stepped foot in Amercia, let alone LA. I try to support Bristolians in my other liked sports where possible (Lando Norris, Judd Trump etc.).
TL;DR: it's influence. I don't blame anyone for supporting bigger clubs if that's what they're brought up around. As another poster also alluded to, Bristol clubs have been so bad (or under par compared to the city size) for so long that it's not a surprise. I think a vast majority of the "kids support the big clubs, not their locals" mainly stems from jealousy of those clubs. Honestly I could care less, support who you want and who you feel you identify with best.
