About time we had a Bobby. Real footballer’s name. Bobby Jones, Bobby Williams, Bobby Brown, Bobby Gould etc.
Memories of leather footballs, dubbin and Brylcreemed hair.
Now we need a Stan, Alf, Ron and Jim.
Just off to re-read my 1950s football annuals.

Best signing so far (but if Coburn gets fit and firing, thing we may fall for him Elliot A style!)

Burnley fan that closely follows the U21s here.
You've got a very good central defender in Bobby Thomas.
He has been considered as a first team player at Burnley since the start of last season, initially by Sean Dyche. The few times he played for the U23s in PL2 last season it was obvious the level was beneath his ability. Started a few friendlies this preseason and scored against Shrewsbury in one of them from a (short) corner. His only senior appearance for Burnley was a start against Millwall in the Carabao Cup, he played alongside Jimmy Dunne (who is now a regular at QPR in the Championship) and looked the better of the two.
He's got the qualities of an "old school" centre back with his physicality/aerial ability but is also decent (if not great) on the ball. Also has a long throw on him. Very good attitude, will always give 100%, Dyche would never have promoted him if there were any question marks there.
We've got hopes for his future but we also have a lot of central defenders on our books at the moment so it's a move that suits all parties, he definitely needs first team football to continue his development- hopefully you'll see him get better as the season goes on.

Thanks for all the information. Was already buzzing for this signing and this sounds like just what we need. Sounds like he starts further ahead than Connor Taylor did on loan for us last season from Stoke and he will forever be a gas legend. Hope Bobby can do the same!

Thanks for posting about him. He sounds a good prospect for you and that he needs to get 30/35 games under his belt. I hope the Burnley connection works out well and we can turn him into a better player. That way all three sides gain. Perhaps it’s just me but the impression given is that he will be playing a big part in the first team. Welcome to the gas Bobby. UTG!
