Now that business seems to have concluded until January, I was curious on opinions of our best 11? Not just of what’s currently available but of the group as a whole.
As a side note I’m also curious to know what positions people think we’ve missed out on strengthening since we’ve ended up 2 or 3 short of our target I believe

Belly Hoole Gibson Connolly Gordon Coutts Finley Anderson Evans Collins Coburn
Could have done with another LB and winger.

Belly Hoole Connolly Gibson Gordon Rossiter Finley Jasper Evans Collins Coburn No Super Mac ? How could I forget Super Mac!?!? Doh! Put him in for Jasper. Edit: I'd even be tempted to put him in for Finley and drop Evans a bit deeper with Macca in the 10 role. Decisions decisions.

His best performance was actually against us apparently. Lets hope his form improves quickly

Injuries aside there should be enough quality in the squad to compete. Bit worried about the defence still but its done now. Evans needs a kick up the backside and tempted to give loft a starting role over Marquis

Hope Finley is 100%.Good to have Whelan on the bench too.Reckon Lofty has to feature at some point. He is 'Emerging'. Hoping for a win to get us going again.

I’d go back to Collins up front in the false nine role tomorrow though. Get the attacking midfielders running in to the spaces that he creates with his movement. Back to what worked so brilliantly last season. 100%

As others have said, none of the three new loanees have kicked a ball for us yet and others like Gordon, Gibson and Rossiter have hardly played either so I have ruled them out. Assuming everyone were 100% fit then my line up would be….
Belly …best rush goalie we’ve ever had (yes I know the correct terminology is sweeper-keeper)
Anderson…gives 100% in defence and attack and offers speed in transition. Whelan…man is class wherever he plays, never panicked, we can pass the ball out from the back comfortably if he’s in the back unit Connolly…got to have a bit of pace and composure next to Whelo and beefy is unflappable Grant…there is no doubt that when he’s fit he sees the big picture from left back and offers the right type of support at the right time
Coutts…Captain fantastic acting as the conduit between defence and midfield, screens the back four well and doesn’t overplay
Finlay…box to box energy, tigerish without the ball and creative with it. Good shot on him McCormick….box to box energy. Offers a second string to the set-piece bow. Evans… conduit between midfield and attack, there’s magic in his boots. Set piece wizard.
Collins…mobile number ten confident in front of goal and can take players out of the game with a deft turn
Marquis….slow start for him in a gas shirt but he is the player in our side that has many seasons scoring goals at the level we are playing at. Got to have that experience at the cutting edge of your side, need to be able to trust your striker to make the right decisions in goalscoring situations.
