Is Banksy a Gashead ? Or Damian Hirst ?
Money to be made if they contributed to a design.

Whoever thought this idea up needs the sack so they can go work somewhere else where they actually need a rebrand I actually think the general response shows it was worthy of a survey. I was being somewhat facetious in all fairness - I don’t really think they should be sacked! However I maintain it’s a bad idea and risks tearing up our club identity. Our badge looks as good today as it did 25 odd years ago or however long it was it came in. At the time it was ahead of its time. I think the social media response is well captured by this Twitter poll which has a good number of responses.

Do we still use the word 'Pirates' when referring to us? Gas, yes, but I never think of us as the Pirates. Maybe it is time for a change but it will have to be a superb iconic design or we may just as well stick with what we have. Something incorporating the word 'Gas' - I don't think a Gasometer would be a good look though!! We don’t have to pick one or the other - the pirates will make for great branding to grow the club from should Joey get us to the prem like he’s aiming to!

I’m sure others have said it (can’t be assed reading everything)
The skull and crossbones idea is amazing because people worldwide will love it. Kids from all 4 corners of the globe will happen upon it and think it’s the bomb. Plus as a delinquent Bristolian youth, who you going to edge towards: the crappy Robin or a *ing savage skull and crossbones?
City can keep their generic Red team BS, and their cider (which is Somerset anyway, as is most of their fan base) We can have pirates and rum. Bristol has nothing to do with cider, it’s a port, from which Britain conquered the world. Rum and cutlasses. Not a bunch of inbred farm labourers rolling in bales of hay with their sisters drinking cider.
We will be the authentic Bristol club and not the Somerset surrogate we have down there.

We are bristol rovers and are famous for our unique blue and white quartered shirts!!!!! I hated that crest, absolutely detested it

Have the woke brigade infiltrated the boardroom. Could the pirate be linked to slave trade or is the colour of the pirate wrong. Maybe multi coloured should suit the times Why are your lot so keen to admit you're racist homophobes? It's so weird, if I had some really unpleasant, outdated views, I wouldn't be shouting about them

I don't know, but doubt that Damien Hirst is. Born in Bristol, but brought up in Leeds. However, his "For the Love of God" might give us a starting point if we wanted to go the skull and cross bones route:

IMHO it's time for a change. Focus on the quarters. Modernize. The stuff of pirates, swords and skull & cross bones belongs in panto land. Let's be dragged, albeit kicking & screaming, into the new world - while always respecting what has gone before.

There’s been a trend of clubs refining their crests so the crest is more easily ‘digitised’ which is something we might want to look at. If you zoom into the crest on the club’s own social feeds, you can see how pixelated it is against the quartered background. That's simple to fix by vectorising the design. I could do that in about an hour!

My 2-pence, I love our current design. My first kit was the Roman Glass green and black, and I had the tesco snack box, and thought the squares logo was naff. Although I was only about 6, so I wouldn't necessarily consult young Westy for design choices back then. I still think our current badge is modern, bold design that is both simple yet very visual. Perhaps as others have said keeping somewhat the existing design and tweaking it to fit in a complete circle..but I am fond of the sword sticking out. What's a sword when it's sheathed? Useless
