Time for some positives:
That’s Barnsley, Pompey & Ipswich away all done, just have to get the mullering at Hillsborough on national TV completed and then we can start cracking on😄

Ellis Harrison scored again tonight for Port Vale. Shame we didn't sign him instead of Marquis. Think he would have suited us better too. Marquis did his usual stroll around pushed off the ball to easily thing tonight. Looks like a journey man player to me. Yeah he has a good record at this level but not sure we’ve signed the same player. You meant he had a good record in the past, I suggested when we signed him that if he couldn't score for Pompey & Lincoln then he'd struggle to score at Rovers.

Could say the defence recruitment this year has been “negligent”? 😱 Bit early for the over dramatics , let’s see where we are in March / April before the ‘quotes’ from JB of old Just a little leg pulling. Needed after that. Expected a defeat. Just didn’t need that end with an already not good enough defence.

Hardly anyone playing well, but feeling for kilgore, the guy is clearly not good enough, for this league, really can’t believe how far downhill he has gone in a couple of years, hopefully Luca Hoole is not going the same way, after impressing in his first season

Yeah he has a good record at this level but not sure we’ve signed the same player. He’s not had a great start, partly due to him and partly due to our best/creative players not really clicking in to gear yet. Way too early to be writing him off - people have done that with Jason Roberts, Lambert, Matty Taylor and last season Aaron Collins but we still keep doing it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ‘journeyman’ work as hard for a team as Marquis has in the games I’ve seen so far this season.

Evans has been dreadful again tonight apart from the shot that could have been goal of the season. Needs to be dropped because he’s horrendously out of form. McCormick should be given a run in that role. Gordon looks good I agree with that and thomas I’ve only seen twice and doesn’t look the commanding centre half we’re crying out for but he’s ok and better than Kilgour whom Ipswich have targeted all night with their well informed tactics. Two sloppy yellows for Thomas which is either unlucky or silly or probably a bit of both. Marquis has done nothing and I thought we looked like we had a goal in us last 15 first half / first 15 minutes second half but since he came on we've had no attacking threat whatsoever, he’s too easily looked after by every team we play against. Very poor signing so far. I accept that Evans is not having the same impact as last year, partly as he is up against better players, tonight I still thought he worked hard and one of the few players we have that has the skill needed to breakdown opposition teams. Fully agree that McCormick needs to start games, his closing down was exceptional tonight effort not matched by others. He had some nice touches and has had the experience of two seasons in Div 1. On the other hand Coutts seems to be struggling at this level. Caught out on the ball with a large percentage of passes going backwards Finley is annoying to play against he is niggly and helps break up opposition play. Rossiter will miss saturday but not sure he makes the cut ahead of Finley Evans and McCormick which we have to hope can form a competitive and consistent unit. Lots of injuries obviously haven’t helped but we don’t seem to have an identity in the way that we play yet this season. In the second half of last season we had a process that we followed when we had the ball, as a fan I could see what we were going to do next when we had the hall because that’s what we did , we had a system and the players all knew too and it made for a very fluid style of football. I know we’re up against better players this season but I think we just haven’t clicked as a team at all yet. It was of course exactly the same this time last year so I’m not panicking yet.

Rossiter is a defensive CM, something it seems we clearly need in the side.

Not writing him off just saying that when he’s on the pitch we look predictable and slow, when he’s not we look far better. Hopefully he’ll improve as he’s a big signing by our standards.

We look uncomfortable playing in league one. Maybe we came up a season too early. It’s gonna be tough to stay up

He's started last season poorly and was late starting this season due to the suspension. The defence is worrying at the moment. If we can get Gibson fit and keep him fit then he will be a massive plus for us. Both full backs are struggling at this level. I expect our strongest team to be something like this. Belshaw Anderson Gibson Connolly Grant Coutts Finley McCormick Evans Collins Coburn I'm not sure about LB but wanted to put Grant in somewhere!

That was my first thought too. I thought the ref was reaching for a yellow for the Ipswich player

Didn't look like a foul from Kilgour on ifollow. Hopefully we can appeal and escape or reduce the ban

Never a red for Killgour if it even was a foul. Ref was conned. Nasty thing to do to a fellow professional especially when the game was already won.

Kilgour, Houle and Saunders are all National league standard at best. I feel it was very important that we signed an experienced centre half who can organise and actually win the ball now and again. Not got a chance of winning an appeal as Kilgour stupidly lost the ball and given the forward a CLEAR goalscoring opportunity and then did make contact with the player evn though it was minimal and the player went down like a sack of spuds. Why appeal anyway as we would be better off without Kilgour anyway. At fault with both goals and can't mark to save his life.Houle maybe young but he is terrible in possession and like Kilgour his positioning is poor.. I am confident we will be ok in the long term as when most are fit we will have a REASONABLE side and JB will sort it out.

Kilgour, Houle and Saunders are all National league standard at best. I agree with Saunders. Kilgour for me is league two standard. Hoole has shown some promise but he is not yet league one standard. I got bashed on here last night for criticising Kilgour during the first half. A lot more people defend him because he is a local lad. However, by the second half, I wasn't the only one on here who was being critical of him.

There cannot be many teams in the history of the game who have got promoted and then ended up with a weaker starting eleven / squad the following season!
I think back to our previous three promotions where we not only kept our best players but we strengthened the squad further. With last nights defense we wouldn't have got anywhere near the play offs last season!
