Firstbus are looking to remove non essential bus services, which could impact on travel times to the Mem and additional costs for users. Many people living in St Werbughs, Stapleton and Frenchay may see no bus services at all from October and it could happen in your area soon. I cannot guestimate the number of people who either will be unable or unwilling to take much longer and expensive journeys to get to watch Rovers, but if it is cold and wet and the only other option is by foot, or taxi, it may put off a lot of teenagers, who we need to grow the support of the club. Many people reading this may think it doesn't effect them, but imagine if you do not live on a major route and you go for a few drinks after work without the car. Rather than a fiver on the last bus home, it might mean £20 on a taxi and that means less disposable income to spend in the bar at the Mem, so that impacts Rovers. Please go to change.org and sign the Bristol no 5 bus petition. If you tolerate this, your children's buses will be next. Ha ha ha, see what you did there, great Manic's reference. Serious subject, save our bus routes.

Pre covid my Dad was a regular ST holder but during lockdown his girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer and this was just over ten years after the same illness claimed my Mum.
At 87, his girlfriend elected not to have any treatment and due to the risk of covid he was told to not go to her flat, although he visited when allowed, talking through the window, even taking a flask of tea for himself to avoid any chance of contamination.
Around that time, he triggered a speed camera and was advised to go on a speed driving course. In truth he probably could have claimed exceptional circumstances, but at 85, he couldn't be bothered to fight the authorities and shortly gave up driving instead
The help and support from Adam, Matt, Nathan at the Community Trust, the Gas Girls and Alfie who came to visit during lockdown will not be forgotten.
Post covid, he only comes to a few games by bus and as he lives in Stapleton, he will struggle getting to the Extra Time club run by the community trust. He will have to walk about 30 minutes to Eastgate or 10 minutes to catch the UWE bus to Fishponds and get other buses from there.
If you could spare a few minutes to add your name to the petition it would be appreciated.
No doubt there is going to be a day for everyone when the car won't start and we will have to use public transport. At this rate, if you don't live near to a main arterial road, you won't be able to get anywhere without a taxi, so the issue of no bus services will affect nearly all of us, probably sooner rather than later.
Thanks

Bumped so people can sign the petition.
I am sure we all like a drink after a game once in a while. If you don't live in town and go down Glos Rd, then you could struggle to get anywhere else soon if they keep getting rid of the buses.

Hey regular bus users. The ticket prices go up tomoro, but if you use e tickets you can buy them today and they last a year so you could potentially save a lot of money if you can buy a load today.
Day rider increasing from £5.30 to £6.00.

Day rider increasing from £5.30 to £6.00. But in the Bristol and Bath area they go down! £2 single £3.50 return from today (adult) £1 children ride all day. Got to be commended in these difficult times 👍🏼

Got to be commended in these difficult times 👍🏼 I thought I heard this was a government initiative? No doubt FirstBus could make a huge profit if they offered cheap reliable services. If you can't get from A to B it is a bit of a problem. If a grandad and his grandkids wanted to catch a bus from Frenchay to the Mem after October, they have to catch the students UWE bus either going to the UWE and another from there to Filton Ave, or the UWE bus going in the other direction takes it up to Fishponds and then either another two buses to the Mem or the hourly run 17. I recall TG was going to bring in the exceptional expensive coach service. Why pay something like £6 for a bus dayrider when you can pay a tenner for a Rovers coach return from Eastgate? No wonder no one wanted to use it. However a forward thing club would take advantage and offer a Roversbus - like they did at Twerton. I will email Dave Bright. A Rovers special from Hambrook direct to the clubhouse could help increase attendances and reduce the carbon footprint and potentially increase food, drink, programme and 50/50 sales.
