Left work late so only got to the ground at about 2.15. I went to 2 different programme sellers and the SC shop - all sold out.
Luckily I was chatting to a mate at half time and the bloke next to us brought both his kids and bought them both a programme, so he kindly let me buy one of them for a fiver.
Now, I don't work in sales, but, it was a special souvenir issue to celebrate Her Majesty and it also had the team photo (not sure if they advertised the fact, but kids love that sort of thing). Surely, they should know there was going to be a large demand?
I believe that on print runs, the more you buy, the lower the average print costs?
I suspect the majority of the attendance turn up in the last 30minutes, so they could have sold another few hundred at least. This is not a one off as post Exeter last season, it has been sold out for the majority of games. The club could be earning around a £thousand a game and if people can't buy programmes they are less likely to get 50/50s as well.
What is going to happen when we play Wednesday? Will they print the same number as Morecombe? It just doesn't make any sense.

Why more weren't available I don't know. I agree there should have been more. If anyone still needs one they are available from the printers. www.curtis-sport.com/bristol-rovers-fcCheers, Jamie (Matchday organiser)

I work on the opposite side of the world in a very different retail business - and I don't want this to sound unemotional (in fact it's quite the opposite) but the first thing I did when the news broke early on the previous Friday morning our time in Australia was to triple our newspaper orders for Saturday and Sunday when the coverage would be at it's peak - and we sold out both days...
...sometimes you have to take a risk that you might spoil/waste more to sell more.

But it is not even a waste. They must know if they constantly sell out before 2.30 (and quite often even earlier), the demand is there.
I know in the recent past first team squad players went into local schools and hospitals with the community trust and used old programmes to help kids get interested in reading and maths, ie what is the average attendance, how many goals have we scored, what is our top scorers goals to game ratio.
If it helps kids, it's got to be good, plus who knows, a few may have became fans just because of meeting real life footballers.
Not printing more programmes is like saying they are not going to order any more away shirts for sale, because they might have 30 left over at the end.(even if they make a 20 grand profit).
If you look on ebay, nostalgia is big business. There are lots of old shirts, programmes and memoribilia, some are snapped at amazing prices.
If it costs the club £500 to print 500 more programmes, they only need to sell 143 to make a profit - plus I am sure it will mean extra 50/50 sales and it increases the chances of the advertisers products being seen by more people, so the club can increase advertising costs and create more revenue.
I don't like the expression but it really is a non brainer.

Last Saturdays Rovers 'special' programme mentioned in national press. what did they say? The article highlighted the fact that many clubs throughout the football pyramid from Prem to lowest leagues produced special programmes, Rovers was one of those pictured.

Think the SC have asked for more to be printed, but no joy? Does Slam know? Who makes the decision? Should we email Dave Bright to see if he will respond?

Sold out again at 2.10.
The programme seller said the SC have repeatedly asked for more.
I emailed DB - no response.
The club must be losing money.
Someone joked, I bet they order 2500 programmes for the Palace u21 and then say "told you so" if they don't sell out! Joke!
