Just messing around and came across a League One table calculator.... Predicted our games up to midway point of L1 season (23 games played, just before Jan window). Does anyone think we'd stay up if table looked like this:
18. MK Dons - 28pts, -3 GD 19. Wycombe Wanderers - 27pts, 0 GD 20. Cheltenham Town - 27pts, -8 GD 21. Forest Green Rovers - 26pts, -14 GD 22. Bristol Rovers - 22pts, -10 GD 23. Burton Albion - 19pts, -21 GD 24. Morecambe - 16pts, -23 GD
Also, if we performed this poorly up to Xmas, would JB face the sack?
All if, buts and maybe's, just a bit of thought......

If Joey only gets 15 from the next 13 then he’d deserve the sack imo.

In all seriousness he seems to have been given so much control of things at the club I fear sacking him mid season won’t keep us up regardless, there would be so much to do in such little time

I think if he doesn't get at least one win in the next 3 games then sacking should be definitely on the table
Exter Cambridge MK Dons

No way would Wael sack him he has invested way too deep ....
If Barton goes his entourage will follow ripping out the whole spine of the club, leaving us with nothing, such is the control the man has over things.
By giving him a huge contract and publicly stating he wouldnt sack him if he lost 50 games no wonder he is under no pressure to perform ... thank goodness none of our players are on three year contracts or they might feel less need to break sweat - Oh wait a minute! ... and maybe there lies one of the problems !

I just mentioned on another thread how Garner was sacked after 11 games and 12 points. This season we have played 10 and have 8 points. If we win on Saturday we will still have fewer points over the same number of games than Garner did when he was sacked. I don't think for a moment that Barton is in any immediate danger of being fired though. Plus if/when we get our injured players back we should hopefully be much more competitive.

Problem is, most of those injured have a poor track record with injuries, so realistically are we going to be able to consistently field our strongest 11? not sure we will

It was Garner's first full season as a manager.. and the previous season he took us from near the top of the league to near the bottom. Barton has a bit of credit in the bank after last season. So he will certainly be given more time this season to turn things around - especially when you consider we should have quite a few players coming back from injury.

Wael has put all his eggs into the Joey Barton basket. If he got rid of Barton then he has to get rid of more or less the entire backroom staff. Sacking the lot would cost a fortune and trying to replace them mid season would not be easy. So I think we are stuck with him till he decides to walk for better or worse, love him or hate him. I'm not a fan of Joey but the squad if and when at full strength should have enough to avoid bottom 4 but that said it has the feel of a bottom third finish without a good Christmas window recruitment.

I said similar in an earlier comment and agree with you other points, I don’t think he can be sacked until the end of the season if at all, but even then he’s got us out of league 2 once, may as well keep him and let him do it again haha

Coming off the back of a promotion definitely buys more leeway than just looking like a bad gamble, Garner was a gamble I was glad we made tho tbh, just hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it lol

Not sure whether Gibson or Thomas will take the 2nd centre half spot as haven’t seen enough of either. I also can’t see Clarke being first choice left back in a back four, more likely Gordon (or even Grant) would be well ahead of him. Right side of the attacking three is pretty open. Whether Jasper is good enough who knows? Anderson is reliable and steady but having spent ages trying to sign him and having paid a decent fee I reckon JB could end up shoe horning Macca in on that side.
