Danny Mills on Joey Barton Thanks for finding that GGMI, had a few minutes to spare? 😉 Now I’m never going to be JBs biggest fan and I suppose it was interesting to listen to but...... Danny Mills? Back in the day he was considered worse than JB on the football field. He didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know and imo, he was trying to stir up things. He was trying to make himself look good and clever. Blimey the guy on the left at the back even tried to bring in sexual innuendo! He was more interested in hanging JB out to dry with comparisons with Gerrard and Keane and implying JB wouldn’t mess with himself and how he earned respect. Pretty sure it was considerably embellished. No idea if it’s true but that was more about Danny Mills than JB, imo. UTG!

But only a matter of time before the switch goes on and off again.

Thought I'd heard all this before, hasn't Mills got anything else to talk about?

Poor man’s Roy Keane? Fairly sure that goes for most central midfielders to ever play in the premier league. Mills was a bang average trophyless full back who only played in a World Cup because Gary Neville broke his foot. I also don’t recall many people being fearful of him back in those early 00’s, though that interview backs up what I’ve always thought, it’s only Danny Mills who ever considered Danny Mills to have been a “hard man” player.

Nothing new there. We already knew that Joey is a thug.

Taking him quite literally - a poor man’s Roy Keane will do me at Rovers!

Danny Mills has less integrity than Lis Truss or a coach load of Catholic priests.

I listen to this podcast a lot. Some very interesting ones including Leon Knight, Bradley Orr, Marc Bircham and Martin Allen. Also one to listen to is Bristolian Andy Johnson who is totally nuts - he said he wanted to finish his career here but Lennie Lawrence put the kibosh on it.

Andy Johnson was mates with Christian Edwards who helped trying to put a deal together. Andy Johnson just kept on demanding more money until he was out of our league financially.

Two of the better ones are with former Referees. Jeff Winter and the other one with Kevin Lynch, who sent 4 Rovers players off at Wigan back in 1997 are quite amusing.

Ah well he conveniently missed out that part lol - sounds like we (and potential teammates) dodged a bullet with him. Good player though, I played football against his brother years back and he was also excellent despite carrying a lot of timber.

I haven't listened/watched it yet, but the latest one is with David Hillier. Might have a few stories from his time at Rovers and certainly will from his time at Arsenal.

Another one who had a tough upbringing with only a slight misdemeanour along the way. He was working as a fireman the last time I spoke to him.

Yeah I read quite a few years ago he was working as a fireman. I've Just listened to his episode by the way and very little mention of Rovers for those interested.

Not surprised. with respect to him he never hid the fact that his time at Rovers was an end of career payday.
