I’m looking forward to it! A chance to take the kids up in the big stand and enjoy an amazing view, last season when my daughters watched the gas girls from the east stand it blew their minds it was lovely for us lowly M j k ers! Also maybe get a first look at the new guy up front, shorter queues for a bovril , it’s gonna be all right 😀

I would rather sh!t in my hands and clap than watch our heavily rotated team play Palace youth in a competition they should have no place in. I went to the Plymouth away game and we played a full strength team there, how do you know tonight will be different? the Plymouth match was great and they played a strong side also, argyles immaculate stadium and ar park was a bit humbling though!

I’m still boycotting it because I hate the idea of -23 sides in our league structure and I think the FA and Premier league would still want to do this if the financial gain was there and they thought fans would support it. So far the crowds have been well below that they used to be when it was just league 1 and 2 clubs which I think is good. Shame they did what they’ve done though I used to enjoy the crappy cup. Wouldn’t it make a perfect statement if the games against the proper teams were really well attended and just the under 23’s matches were completely empty stadiums. I’ve always liked the competition personally, it’s a chance for the smaller lower league teams to win something go to Wembley and make their club a bit of much needed money. I actually do like the group stages they’ve brought in, just hate the under 23 prem teams being in it

The big boys will offer to pay the match costs! They threw a load more money ar it last time there were rumblings of discontent at their presence. The reason they are in it is purely down to the money the EFL clubs have received. When it 's a straight choice between what's right and money, money always wins the argument. Isn’t that the truth! and that applies to literally any argument that money can be thrown at

Nor have I watched any of these games on iFollow. My will would be tested if we ever made the final though...

I have no issue with those who go and watch or stay at home. Don't think low attendances will change the minds of those in power but would be interested to see the attendances if/when the U21s get knocked out

I usually go to these games when I’m back in the UK. I’m a live for the day guy….too much booze and fried food. I will be probably be dust in ten years. A lot of Fans choose not to go….. until they reach the Final …then shift 30 to 40 thousand tickets…..Pompey springs to mind. This alone probably offsets the cost of the whole competition. Let’s just say in a few years time , we find ourselves in Div 1 with a dozen or so B Teams….what then ? I think this happens in quite a few countries…Italy, Netherlands , Scotland etc.

I’m fairly sure 5,000 Stoke fans rocked up a Vale park a couple of years back to watch their under 21’s. Possibly something similar at Sunderland / Newcastle. Very surprising.

Need two U21's to get to the final to see impact on attendance. I was praying for Millwall and West Ham to get to the final a few years ago, the repair bills would have put the mockers on having U21 teams in the competition.

I don’t know tonight’s team but would guess all the half fit players will be included to get game time. It’s more about the inclusion of Prem B teams in a tournament that was designed to create a tournament for lower league teams. If the Prem teams want to blood their youngsters, they can do it in league games, fa cup or the league cup. Using our tournament by way of throwing crumbs at us just doesn’t sit well with me.

A Sunderland Pompey final the other year definitely didn’t help matters. You could have 800 or less at every single game, but when these two clubs Chuck 75k plus inside Wembley for the final, that’s all that sky, the FL & that pizza company will crow about.

Need two U21's to get to the final to see impact on attendance. What’s the furthest a youth team has made it in this competition so far? And how many seasons has it been this way now??

Need two U21's to get to the final to see impact on attendance. Not so sure about that, when you consider a recent Arsenal v Tottenham woman’s match brought in an attendance of over 47000, I am sure if their u21 teams reached the final & played at Wembley the game could attract a similar sized crowd.

And just imagine the crowd if BRFC (1883) were to play Tottingham Ladies U'21s at Wemberley. Numbers locked out, ......... or what!

I actually do like the group stages they’ve brought in, just hate the under 23 prem teams being in it I get what you’re saying but they’d probably use overall attendance to try and prove that fans don’t mind us playing -23 teams. Which in most cases isn’t true. I don’t think it’s that far fetched to think that they’d try and put 23 sides in to the lower leagues, if they thought it would be financially beneficial for them and the premier league then I doubt they’d care that much if the lower league clubs were worse off. We’ve got the oldest and most prestigious league in the world it needs to be protected. If people want to go then I get that it’s up to them and it hurts that I’m not supporting my club anymore in these games but I’m not going because I think the bigger longer picture could be far worse if this tournament isn’t continued to be boycotted by the majority. The fact that attendances are down yet they’re sticking with it only furthers my suspicions to be honest.

Great to see Gibson, Gibbons and Coburn on the bench. And Jasper starting.
