Another home game that pre-season we'd have identified as a good chance of 3 points. Not gone that way for us so far, but hopefully we saw the tide turn at Exeter and even more positive the return of Gibson, Gibbons and arrival of Coburn last night. I think Joeys 1st choice back 3 will be Connolly-Thomas-Gibson but for this game Hoole as Right CB still looks class. Hoping Gibson is ready to start. Gibbons and Coburn maybe introduced more slowly.
Unfortunately missing this one as out of the country, but will be delighted if I miss a great performance and win. Or any win.

I agree. The performance at Exeter allowed us to believe we’ve got our Rovers back and beating Palace added to that optimism. I think with the disappointment of our accrued points from home games so far a win now against Cambridge will help put a different perspective on it. Yes we probably should have another 7 -8 ? points from those games but 3 Saturday will hopefully take us out the bottom 4 which will be a psychological boost to all.

Well they were on the wrong end of things last night (3-0), so guess they will be looking to put that behind them on Saturday.

Our opponents the following week are Cheltenham. At 3pm on Saturday we had the same number of points and they were just ahead on goal difference, now they are 5 points clear.
A couple of positive results and it changes quickly

I'm feeling positive following Saturday and last night - I think things are on the turn. I have watched football at various stadiums for over 50 years and I am still amused by the generic optimism of supporters, which incidentally I share. The "we were poor today, but are soon going to be much better" is perhaps a philosophy that defines a true supporter. The roller coaster ride that was last season has understandably fuelled an appetite for further success and a desire to see the "beautiful game" played with a fluidity that honours its founders. I, for one, salute the 'true' supporter and - in a world riddled with pessimism - salute their unfailing optimism. UTG.

Back to the Cambridge United build up.....................................
Played the academics a total of 35 occasions. 30 in the league and 5 times in other competitions since December 1971.
At HOME The Gas have WON 14 of the 20 matches played. There have been 4 DRAWS and 2 DEFEATS.
On the 4th of October 1980 Cambridge United were the victors at The Bristol Stadium in Eastville with a solitary goal.
Nineteen years ago at The Memorial Stadium on the 18th of October 2003 Cambridge United managed a 2-0 win.
It is good to note that The Gas are regarded as a bogey team by the sides who play in the elite University towns and cities.
A convincing victory or a lucky win will be welcome this Saturday.
Then again. It is Cambridge United at HOME in October.

Good test this, have we really turned the corner? or is it a false dawn, really hope it's the former, Jasper pushing to start but i agree with those who think he is better used as impact sub, give him at least 35 mins though.

I think it was an evening fixture at Cambridge United when the supporters coach driver went to Cambridge City's ground by mistake, and by the time he re-routed, his passengers had missed the kick off.
