It wouldn't surprise me if he came back on a loan agreement in the January window make the call Joey I’d be surprised if that happened, he’s been starting recently in a higher division. I can definitely see him coming back towards the end of his career though. Would 💙that to happen ! Utg

Of course it was for personal gain. He’s a professional footballer, it’s his career. I bet everyone single person on here has changed employers and 99% of the time it will have been for personal financial gain. He gave everything for the quarters while he was here, probably more than any other player in that period. I remember him playing on having lost his teeth in a challenge when he was still a teenager. Not many modern players show that commitment. He stayed and helped us get promoted after we dropped out of the league. I don’t disbelieve his love of the club and wasn’t the slightest bit surprised that he chose to watch us on his night off. A top bloke and very genuine. Yes, he is a professional footballer so he will do that. No problem. Yet somehow another player who did sign a new contract for us, making sure we got £300k gets absolutely slaughtered on here and every time we play his new team. When we went out of the league I’m not sure many other clubs were queuing up to get Tom or if he was even out of contract. If he wasn’t out of contract then he stayed to honour his contract, no more. And, like you, I don’t disbelieve his ‘love’ for the club either but it sure was a strange way to show it, running down his contract. I like Tom and hope he achieves all he can with Luton but the hypocrisy in the different way two players are treated is stark. I’m presuming the BCFC 1982 factor comes into play to make it different. Is that it? UTG! It's not where he went, it's how he went. Snakey basically stuck 2 fingers up at the fans in the manner in which he left.

The Taylor thing has been done over and over but i believe what upset a lot of fans was, Taylor's demeanour during the last stages of his time with us, his career was going nowhere when D.C signed him and enabled him to make what he has out of the game, he paid Rovers scant praise for making him what he was, his agent was a very good friend of a high-ranking City official who subsequently offered the exact figure to trigger the release clause although they did not really want him nor it seems did anyone else, just did not like the media attention he gave Rovers, and so on, i wish the bloke no harm and do not abuse him when he returns but neither do i respect him , snake is a very apt adjective in his case i believe.

Remember Halifax pretty much summed it up. There was also how the TEDs did the Tevez thing when he signed, plus there were the gifs as well Taylor is an argogant POS he's so far up his own arse

You can't compare Tom to the traitor, the two couldn't and shouldn't be compared.
Yes Tom ran his contract down, yes he left but was dignified in the way he went (whatever his reasons) The snake however was totally different.
Net result was the same but never saw adverts stating 'Welcome to Charlton'
As stated, this has been done to death, always ends up with the same polarised view on the outcome

You have the sane minded folk that saw it for what it was & will never forgive or forget. Then you have those who come out with the “he’s a footballer, doesn’t support Rovers, it’s just a job to him” etc…etc…

There was also how the TEDs did the Tevez thing when he signed, plus there were the gifs as well Taylor is an argogant POS he's so far up his own arse Ah, Gaschat posts and gossip becomes confirmed as fact! Got it. I saw both home games that month before MT went, Northampton and Swindon and we outplayed both and won both. I never saw anyone moaning about him then but once he went to BCFC 1982...... the story changes. I didn’t see any disrespectful ‘demeanour’ from him leading up to the move. As for BCFC 1982 doing a Tevez, yes that was crap but that was them, I doubt he suggested it or even had a say in it. He did look like a rabbit in headlights. They did it to wind us up. And yes MT doesn’t come over as well as TL does now they are both gone but I suspect that is a defence mechanism on his part, a reaction to the abuse he gets from us when we play Oxford. And I understand that how we all hated MT after that and I don’t like MT anymore than anyone else on here but when you look at the facts: we got £300k for him but bu**** all for TL because he ran down his contract. The circumstances, contract wise, was almost identical for both of them. I suspect TL received better advice from those around him than MT did. And I bet if it was anyone else he went to it would be different. Hence my comment in my first post. But I will always be thankful to MT because in 2014/15 no MT, no promotion back to the League and we could have become another Wrexham or even worse. I think many have forgotten that amongst all the s*** that happened at that time. That, as far as I’m concerned, trumps everything else. Halifax is right in one respect, it’s been done to death and we need to leave it there. But I just disagree with the story that’s been created around it. Probably in a minority of one over it but that can often be the case. 😉 UTG!
