I know the beginning. I don’t know fhe full thing. Please explain the lyrics:
We’ve got Evans, Anthony Evans…
We’ve got super Joey Barton. He knows exactly what we need….

I believe the Evans one is 'he's Joey Barton's man, he's better than Zidane'?

I just don’t think you understand, He’s Joey Barton’s man, He’s better than Zidane. We’ve got Anthony Evans.
-
He knows exactly what we need, With Collins in attack and (not sure) at the back Taking rovers up the football league.

Didn't the Hammers start it with Payet?
It's from a Billy Ray Cyrus song, so it has no musical integrity at all. He's even worse than his daughter!

On the same theme, I’m always confused as to what we sing:
‘We’re Rovers supporters, we’re faithful and true, We always follow, the boys in blue. We all made a promise, never to part
Then there’s a faster bit that hardly anyone sings and is mumbled. What are these words that lead into Goodnight Irene. It really annoys me as the singing loses all momentum at that time because there seem to be a lot of people like me that don’t know what to sing!

It’s supposed to be “So, Goodnight Irene, I’ll see you in my dreams”. But now when the kids sing it, it turns into what sounds like “So g’nyreeseeyimmadree”, which, by the way, I personally find extremely disrespectful. We have a unique club song, but these idiots choose to ruin it and make it sound as though we’re embarrassed to sing it . . .

I’m glad it’s not just me who doesn’t have a clue what these chants are after averaging only missing one home game a season.
The Joey Barton and Anthony Evans songs sound awful IMO. Sound forced against the tune.
We can do better.
Said it. Shoot me.

Just to add a tangent to this, for younger fans who might wonder where the F some of the songs originate from, here’s one:
I actually like a bit of 50s crooning, this one’s a belter (belter used to mean a good or impressive thing)
Interesting too that regardless of the passage of time and social revolutions, young blokes then faced the challenge of the “upset wife/GF” and were similarly depressed by this complexity of life.
I’m sure blokes in the Middle Ages had this song, albeit played on lutes.

It really ought to be 'never felt more like singing the blues when *ity win and Rovers lose'

and we always used to always sing the part ‘Last Saturday night I got married, me and my wife settled down (in bed!) Now me and my wife have parted, I’m gonna take another stroll downtown Irene goodnight Irene, Irene Goodnight, Goodnight Irene Goodnight Irene I'll see you in my dreams.
Todays version is too fast and too short

It really ought to be 'never felt more like singing the blues when *ity win and Rovers lose' I think it’s the double meaning of “singing the blues” (ie singing on behalf of the blues) which is something we particularly do when rovers win and city lose.

Todays version is too fast and too short Been verseless - is that a word - for quite a while. Liverpool & Southampton really make something of their anthems pre kick off. Seems to have been diluted on the PA system which doesn't help and Sweet Caroline is not OUR song. Port Vale have 'wonder of you' No idea why but it seems to work
