I’m sure it was £15 to watch Crystal Palace under 12’s in the Sherpa Van Trophy but only £10 to watch us play a fellow EFL team in the more prestigious FA Cup. I don’t get that.

Makes sense, crowds always low for these games. Don't think JB will treat the game lightly.

If it’s just the West Terrace that’s closed it should concentrate the crowd in other parts. May make for a good atmosphere with a probable smaller crowd.
UTG!

Most likely what they’re going for, with the added costs of opening/catering/stewarding an entire terrace that only a few hundred will turn up too.

I thought they were only opening the Thatcher’s terrace, and the East Stand and East Terrace for home fans. Good luck to the disabled fans trying to access the East Stand.

Seems strange as the current demand for matches is very high.
I am sure we could have sold around one, possibly two thousand more tickets for yesterday's game.
I assume Seat Unique or whoever tries to sell hospitality have not sold many boxes so the club don't think it is worthwhile to open the West Stand.
With reduced match day costs, I would have thought they could have tried to promote the uniqueness of the FA Cup to try and get as many kids and non regulars to attend.
If it is kid a quid why can't the players go round local schools to promote the game after training? There must be enough injured players to go to some - Connelly, Coutts, Marquis, Grant, Rodders etc
I'm sure in Trolls and DCs days players often took part in promotional sessions taking unsold programmes with them to help with reading and numerical skills.
Maybe mixing with fans is not professional in today's world and covid can be used as an excuse?
There also seems to be a lot of uni/UWE students around. Why not charge them £2 for the FA cup game and get them invested in the club? Even if they take an hour to nurse a pint it is still income.
Really cheap prices might increase the away support or even some neutrals to attend?
Perhaps some paid spark may think of ways to promote increased sales but surely we should still be getting 5,000 home fans as a minimum.
If tickets sales are increased they may relent and open the West Stand.

All but the west terrace open? Im sure everyone will fit in just fine. It sounds like the complete West Stand is closed, with the South Stand also closed, at least to home fans, then that doesn't seem to leave a lot of seats available. I'd imagine at £15 a ticket the East Stand seats will soon sell out.

They’re 2 bottom of League Two, been here loads of times etc…they won’t bring many. Also Everything taken into account with supporters spends, cost of living etc…we would’ve just done Wednesday & Derby away, I’m sure the clubs expectations of a low crowd (4/5k) are about right. But as always, we will see

So what's the deal with parking in the Grounds Car Park these days, to avoid getting fined? Park up, into the Club shop and let them know?

Struggle to get excited about the cups
If it’s a league 2 squad it’s a bit of a non event
If it’s a non-league team we’ll probably get done over
League one it’s just more of the same
Champ or prem they wheel out their reserves and kids so it’s no different to the Pizza trophy.

Used to love the FA Cup but things like this just devalue it further. If I lived in Bristol I would still go but having the hassle of applying and paying for my own seat together with a 250 mile round trip I may sit this one out.

Judging by the pricing the club don’t think much of the FA Cup. How can they charge more for Palace kids than a proper FA Cup tie against an EFL adults team?

With prize money of £41k for winning the first round & £67k for the second round, I would imagine Wael would want us to take the competition seriously.

Particularly annoying to look across from East Stand and see Directors’ Guests sat in West Stand blue seats per usual.
