I know this will upset a few but game after game in the west stand and enclosure close to the south west stand the abuse of officials especially linesmen is unacceptable. Today a couple of idiots started abusing the lineman before the game had even started.this does not give the club a good name and human nature being what it is if you keep getting abuse from fans there is a tendency to err away from giving 50..50 decisions to rovers.its about time these fans?realised this

Correct padstow, but unfortunately they probably aren’t even aware that today is Saturday. Totally embarrassing for the club.

Fair enough, we all have a moan about decisions, however I cringe at some of the abuse I've heard directed at the officials.

Had a few variations of Mr Angry down the front of the East today, you know the sort, still ragin even when the Mrs gives birth.
Lino second half in front of us was spot on, especially at the end when that flag stayed down and Scotty Sincs was a good 2 yards off😄😄

Abuse has caused a few problems in the Devon and Exeter league. The lower divisions now sometimes play Mon nights v Second teams who have the use of their first teams floodlights. This is so they can have a Ref. Others K.O. early on Sats so the Ref can get to a second game. Anyone can run the line in this league so to those who abuse and threaten Refs why not take it up and have a go?

Agree that the referee missed the shirt pulling.
However I’m not a ref or assistant ref (as Lino’s are now called).
But someone will correct me, because I’m not 100% sure I’m right with this. But I thought that the assistant ref can only flag for a foul or foul play if they think it was outside the referees vision.
I know the FA, FIFA rules are more complicated than building a swimming pool on the moon, so I am probably wrong.

Belters the lot of them
Often also displaying a lack of knowledge of the laws of the game, let alone instructions officials are obliged to apply in interpretation.
Lost cause some of them. They don't understand the laws and are incapable of understanding them if they had it explained.

One occasion Coburn ran through & both had a hold of eachothers shirt, no chance the Lino was going to flag our way.
The second occasion, I thought the same CB was lucky to stay on the park, big Josh was away and almost certainly would’ve had a run on goal. 5 yards closer to the middle of the pitch and he’d probably have seen red by default. Such is the rules I guess, go figure.

There was a covering defender in the middle of the pitch, there's no way any ref would have sent the defender off, if it looked possible he would have stopped Coburn scoring, although I doubt he would have! I thought, for a pleasant change, the officials got most decisions right today.

Must tread carefully though, suggested as much in our last home game and was hammered for daring to speak it😂😂

Coming over for a couple of games in November. I will be carrying cards a notebook and I usually have a pencil tucked in my sock. It will be a straight red for abusing officials. I will be patrolling the Fan zone from lunch time onwards…..you have been warned. If you buy me a drink i can down grade you to a yellow.

What constitutes abuse?
Does shouting “you f— idiot” in the wake of a poor decision make the grade?
Does vocalising that a linesman bottled a decision qualify as abuse?
The majority of people in the ground do variations of this. It would be hard to stop it.
My own level of shouty sweary depends on the intensity of the game, the quality of official and my personal consumption of fermented vegetable drinks.
It would only personally bother me if it included threats. Grown adults shouldn’t be getting upset about mean words.

Whenever I hear ''you don't know what you're doing' sung at refs I think ... Ah; you mean '' WE don't know what you're doing''.

Someone tells them officials are against us 'cus of Barton and they believe it and behave accordingly. Paranoia is catching.

One thing that bugs me with officials is their earpieces and microphones. A linesman doesn’t know which way to signal for a throw so delays until he hears from the ref and then they both signal simultaneously. Clearly pre-scripted to give the impression all their decisions are agreed - taking the mickey out of fans.

Perhaps you should volunteer to take the flag at an away stadium but not at a rovers game and see how you get on with making split second decisions that affect the game and getting the constant abuse officials get. It's very easy to be a linesman or referee from the stands with no responsibility for them
