And people thought it would be a good idea to make him our manager.
Disappointed for him after his contribution to the club after all those years though.

Feel sorry for Hargreaves, though you could see it coming to be fair.
Is this Starnes' first act each time to chuck the manager under the bus?

Apparently Yeovils recent performances have been completely miserable.

I suppose it is Yeovil but sad that CH has been sacked. He was an important part of us for the years he was here and always stepped up when needed. He was an important part of DCs team and I’m sure he could have been a half decent manager for us. Just because he failed at Yeovil doesn’t make him a bad manager imo. If we considered past managerial experiences we would never have appointed Gerry F after his failure at Exeter. And just think what we’d have missed then.

Managed Torquay 2014-15 failed. Managed Yeovil 2022-22 failed. His only two managerial appointments.

i think Hargreaves picks the wrong clubs to manage at, like Torquay, Yeovil have been on the slide for years and even a new manager may not keep them up. Their fans have been calling for their owner to go for the last year or more.

Their fans have been calling for their owner to go for the last year or more. After the long ownership by the previous owner the club was sold in June 2019 to a new owner. He duly sold their ground to Somerset council in May this year. There only going one way now.

Perhaps but the thread was more about CH. I don’t care about Yeovil but I’m sorry for CH getting the sack. I don’t think many will care about Yeovil but perhaps have sympathy for CH, as werton said he hasn’t chosen the best teams to manage. UTG!

Considering it was one of the most difficult times in the clubs history, I think Hargreaves did OK at Torquay. Win rate of 42%, reached the FA Trophy semi-final, in the top six until Christmas when budget was halved.

I’m sure you know that in 14/15 season the Torquay budget was halved when their lottery winner director died so CH resigned when they were in the promotion race for a first-time return to the league. (Exactly like us) they then dropped like a stone to finish half way. And it looks like the selling of Yeovil, as you’ve just posted to the new owner who then sold the ground to Somerset Council has bu****** the club, and the budget being drastically cut has made it another impossible task for CH. You’re right they are heading one way, NLS or even lower perhaps. Doubt if many managers, ours included, could do as well with a budget half the size of the one they inherited and that’s why I feel a degree of sympathy for him although of course he probably knew what he was getting into. UTG! edit: pirate, apologies I saw you just beat me to it re CH and Torquay. We must have been typing at the same time!! 👍

Their fans have been calling for their owner to go for the last year or more. They are a mess at boardroom level with only Scott Priestnall and Stuart Robins there until recently, when they officially appointed Starnes to a role again. Rumours are that the infamous former Swindon director and Worcester Warriors owner Jed McCrory has some secret involvement behind the scenes, which will only heighten now that Cooper linked with manager role as McCrory was the one that appointed him at Swindon.

I can understand the bad feeling towards Yeovil but I liked having them in the league. Somerset don’t have any EFL clubs now and it was good for the area, Somerset and the south west to have Yeovil there or thereabouts. I understand the karma-like opinions of many on here but tbh if we ever managed to get our act together Yeovil should never be a threat to us. I hate having a sense of entitlement in football, it is and should be a true meritocracy. But if we ever got to the point where we were well run or well managed Yeovil would be no threat. We look as if we are moving to a position where we are well managed now, however long it lasts. I’m sure many on here will disagree with me but being born Bristolian but a Somerset-bred youngster I obviously feel a tad differently about it.

Writing was on the wall after losing to Taunton in the FA Cup. Writing was on the wall 2 days before the season started when they sold their best player Tom Knowles.
