Pluses for me:
- Sinclair has arrived - clean sheet - bounce back from derby defeat - the type of game we typically lose (pre Barton) - 90 for Connolly - in the hat!

Not the best performance and needed Belshaw a bit more than I would have liked but cup games are all about getting through so job done. Positives for me, Sinclair getting fitter, 90 mins for Connolly and Saunders making a big impact from the bench. A lot of negativity around McCormick but wind the clock back 12 months and Coutts/Collins were getting exactly the same. He's started slowly but every confidence he'll come good. Hopefully a kind draw in round 2 to give us the best chance of a big round 3 tie

Well that was cold, boring for the most part but in the next round. If they could finish it could have been different. We improved when Saunders came on for McCormick and we upped the tempo, scored but it was never comfortable. UTG.
Gave my season ticket pack scarf to a young lad with his dad, the smile on his face made up for the miserable weather.

A very hard watch today, but a 1 nil to the Rovers and we move on to the next round. Scotty showed his undoubted quality, Connolly got 90 minutes, Belshaw was class, thought Harvey injected pace into the front line. Onwards and upwards. Utg

King’s Lynn at home would be fun.

Grimsby away for a guaranteed BBC TV live game.
Any lower placed team at the Mem to increase chances of being in the following round.

It may not have been a classic today but winning when you’re not at your best is the sign of a good team and a good habit to get into. The main thing is that we are in the draw for round two.

As you said If I did a GGMI search😂 I could find detrimental comments about Collinsaldo 😂

Just got back, haven’t read the thread but fwiw: Thomas and Connolly were good, esp as Connolly coming back and I guess they haven’t played much together except last weeks second half. They looked assured on the ball. Finley and Rossiter although not as good as I’ve seen never gave up and kept going. Gordon was poor, their winger gave him a hard first half and though he improved he lacked the confidence to cross the half way line to support Sinclair. Well done Belshaw, as usual and Saunders when he came on made a difference. Collins played as CF but I guess it’s the first time since last season that he’s played without Marquis or Loft or Coburn. We played with more pace in the second half which Rochdale struggled with and we’re through which is what matters. Well done the team and JB.
UTG!

If he’s still below average going in to the new year then he’s probably going to be a bench warmer but we have to give him time, we know he’s a good player and it certainly seems that he’s trying if anything he might be trying too hard and perhaps just needs to relax a bit and let his ability take care of itself.

He was fairly anonymous today and I wasn’t sure what his role is. We looked better when Saunders came on and played further up on the right. He’s a good player and I’m sure he’ll come good but he looks lacking in confidence atm. UTG!

Back to winning ways and in the hat for the next round, very happy with that. Setting off for the Fleetwood game tomorrow, should arrive in Bristol on Friday…..absolutely buzzing as it’s been 3 years since my last game.

Five started today, 3 came on in the first half and a total of 12 players played against us at sometime at the Mem. Apart from Azaz and Houghton who are injured they fielded a very strong side today.

I thought Evans done well, put some decent passes in and was looking better than other home games, Collins looked good in the second half. We missed Ryan Lofts pressing and harrying though, I hope he’s back soon as he’s become integral to our play. Also Finley played well and made my little ones day so a shout out to him. I was impressed with the right winger for Rochdale, fast and caused Gordon so many problems.

So half their team that played against us didn't start today. And were 4-1 down by half time. A bit like us against Derby, where we weren't strong with a couple of players missing, let alone 6 players not in the side. I would suggest they werent that strong. Each to their own.
