Charlie Austin leaves Brisbane in Aussie League. Linked with Swindon and Rovers on Twitter. I’ve heard him interviewed on the radio a few times and it doesn’t seem to have gone well for him down there, seemed more like a holiday that a career move. I reckon a move to Rovers would only be considered if we had an injury crisis or Coburn was recalled by Boro. Personally, I don’t think he would be a good signing. If, and it’s a big if, there is any truth in this, it won’t happen unless he ticks the fitness and attitude boxes for JB. Remember we had Joe Ledley training with us and name and reputation wasn’t enough because he was assessed and wasn’t able to convince that he was up to the rigours of lower league football in the style that Rovers wanted to play. If Austin ticks those boxes then it won’t be a “bad” signing, it will be the level of impact the signing can make that is debatable. Pitman scored 4 goals in 8+4 games, those stats show that despite injury and fitness issues Pitman was able to make a significant impact on a promotion season even though both parties could tell it wouldn’t last. A similar injection of four goals in 12 games from Austin this campaign combined with sharing his knowledge to Collins, Coburn and Loft in training could be invaluable whether or not the wider fanbase consider it a good signing or not. Let’s not forget that an unfit mid thirties striker who managed just 12 appearances in the quarters is considered a major success for the effect 4 of his 6 goals for us had on our immediate future… Andy Rammell. If Austin as a crafty and experienced striker could inject similar impetus to this season it could mean the difference between a lower mid table finish and nicking the last play off place. In my view if he wants to come and passes JBs entrance exam then let it happen.

I think deals for Connor Taylor and Gibson of Everton are high on JBs list even if the latter is an option to buy at the end of his loan.
Fully expecting another tough tackling midfielder in , a creative midfielder also
No striker in if we keep Josh and SS7 - if either goes expect a like for like replacement.
Outgoings
Rodman , Westbrooke, Alfie to Newport and maybe Harvey Saunders though I would like him to stay ideally.

JB said after Saturday's match it will be good to look back in year sot come on the impact we had on Coburn's, Anderson's and Taylor's careers whilst they were on loan at Rovers, that would seem a strange comment to make if there was any chance of Taylor returning in January and so remaining a L1 CH?
Don't think we really need him now Thomas is up to speed anyway.

He must have the best agent in the world! how he's moved to so many clubs for a fee is beyond me!

I think that's a good move for him. Colchester are a significantly bigger club than Crawley, with a decent ground, although the way it's going for them this season he might end up in the National League unless he scores a bucketful for them.

Tayo Edun could be of interest. Can play left back or central midfield. The winger Dilan Markanday looked decent in youths at Tottenham.

Don't know how realistic these signings would be, but if we were shopping for players in League Two, playing well, I'd go for: Matty Foulds (Bradford City) - Left Back / Centre Back Michee Etefe (Grimsby Town) - Right Back Sam Hoskins (Northampton Town) - Right Winger / Forward Ones that have caught my eye in League Two this season are central midfielder Owen Moxon and central defender Morgan Feeney at Carlisle United, central midfielder Will Collar at Stockport County, attacking midfielder/winger Ayoub Assal at Wimbledon and left back/centre back Zac Williams at Crewe. Some of them might be out of reach financially, but that is the sort of quality that could help us kick on in the second half of the season. In the National League, the attacking midfielder/forward Ruben Rodrigues at Notts County should be playing at a higher level and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Think I saw he went to Dagenham in the summer? Was gonna say in and out of the Dagenham lineup, but more out than in. Thought he would have been a key player for them after they beat Southend to his signature.

If i was to guess about incoming players in January. I would say they will either be young loanees from prem/championship clubs. Or Players from clubs in this division (league one) .
If we dont get the people we are after it may be a free agent signs in late jan.
Most likely all to be midfielders (of all types).

I'm not sure if this is relevant to this discussion but I live in Middlesbrough so most of my neighbours and workmates are Boro fans, there doesn't seem to be any desire for Coburn to return early from his loan. Those who are aware of it seem to think it's doing him good being with us, especially as their form has improved quite a bit since Carrick took over.

Rumbling on Twitter regarding Connor Taylor coming back in Jan as well as us being keen on Danny Andrew (left back & current captain of Fleetwood). Apparently good friends with Joey and has played in SW before. Both be solid signings IMO. Would spell the end for Kilgour & Clarke I think. Desperate for a CM too.

I still think we need Gordon and Clarke if one comes in. Assume Andrew is under contract and would cost money?
